'24-25 Former Predators Thread

That said, all of Tolvanen, Parssinen, and Tomasino are better than Hinostroza who currently rides shotgun on our 2nd line, right?
Tolvanen actually has the same points as Nyquist does right now for this season and Tomasino has been going at a higher rate than either of em since joining Pittsburgh. It isnt just Hinostroza theyd both be better than at the moment.

Tolvanen also has 147 hits. Like, our franchise golden stat. Good for #14 overall in the entire NHL. We didn't just lose a guy who would slot into our 2nd line scoring void, we also lost a guy who would be our best hitter up front, which is the real hilarity in all this.

I mean, he looks like he's not going to ever be a top six scorer, which is what we drafted him to be. I think he got a really raw deal here, but im also willing to concede that we didn't throw away some useful 20+ goal scorer. I think we all had hopes he would be a Craig Smith at a minimum, but I don't think that's ever going to happen. If him being gone is what has allowed L'Heureux or Svechkov to get their shot, Im ok with that.
Well, Craig Smith didn't score 20+ goals until he was 24 and Marchessault didn't until he was 26. 23 might be a little early to give up on a player.

Tolvanen just scored his 12th tonight. He'd be 5th on the team in goals and 4th in G/60 (Svechkov is 1st in a smaller sample). I think it's safe to say we could use him.

Yeah like I said he got a bad deal here, and properly developed on another team he may do better, but in the small sample so far it's not looking too promising. I hope he breaks out and has a nice career somewhere.

Tomasino is still only 23. [Ed: sorry if this thread was about Tolvanen.]

If he gets regular playing time and some consistency, I think he has the scoring touch and ability to put it together. Middle 6 player who can add some secondary scoring and be efficient. Which is a good return for the 24th pick in a draft. If a coach's expectations are that the 24th pick in the draft is going to win an Art Ross trophy, that's on him.

McCarron, Smith, Jankowski and Sissons have combined 12 goals this season. Tolvanen has the same amount.
Tolvanen brings a lot of value in other aspects of the game to Seattle. He's an aggressive checker, very good defensively, is a playmaker who gives others chances (Shane Wright is a huge beneficiary in that regard) ... he'd be an upgrade to Jank or Smith in our lineup.

Parsinnen is also zeros across for his last 8 games after getting 1g 1 a early in his time at Colorado. I think we may have to admit the only real bonehead move by Trotz was Fabbro
You’re probably only stat-watching but Pärssinen’s looked very good in the Avs on the occasions he’s gotten more ice-time. Now with injuries and the Rantanen trade, he’s been the 2LW. And right away he has 2 points in 2 games.

He will be a very solid NHL’er in the future and a lot better player than pretty much anyone we have in our bottom-six. A clear blunder from Trotz and co. no matter how you slice it.

And if course he scores today after I put him in blast.
But I don't know if I agree with your assessment. Time will tell.

Doesn't really matter what they do elsewhere, giving away former first round picks for nothing is stupid. When you get more for Tomasino than you did for Tolvanen and Fabbro combined you aren't doing a good job.

And that is the other issue I have with it, we can't play either of those guys but we don't mind playing everyone else's garbage half the time.
And this is my problem too, playing guys who are marginal NHL players over younger players who we've drafted and developed. I'm happy Vinny had success in the AHL this year but he hasn't done anything since being called up other than being fast. Any one recall Viktor Stalberg? He's a lot like him without getting shots off.

It's funny, we've given Novak, ZLH and Svech time together for multiple games and they gelled because of them playing together in Milwaukee, well, at least ZLH and Svech. Other guys got a period here before they got shown the bench then the press box. Are our previous first rounders lighting it up, no, at the same time, are they out producing our current fourth line, sure are.

The love of our TV guys and org for these fourth liners is unconscionable and it gets old real fast when we had more talented guys in our system that we moved on from only to get older.

One thing that really stuck out to me last night, they were skating circles around us for the majority of the game. While our guys finally started hustling after the poor start, youthful legs seem to win out. But hey, those kids are playing elsewhere now so yippee.
