How is "we" in all of this?

I don't recall anyone that was like, "hell, yeah! Trotz bought out Duchene and sent him packing! Poile should have done it long ago...effing idiot!"

I think most people were sitting there saying, "okay, I guess he was a problem in the locker room?".
I recall the move being thought of as a positive move. Away from the “Country Club” vibe. And everyone universally loved the Trotz quote of we want players to come here to win a Cup, not retire or whatever it was. That seemed aimed squarely at Duchene.

Doubt you are going to see that sound bite on the ‘tron come Tuesday.

Duchene looked like this for half the season last year then absolutely disappeared after February.
If we keep Duchene we don't have ROR and at least last year that was a net positive for us.

Trotz deserves dragging far more for Fabbro and Tomasino than he does Duchene

Sure, I can say my thoughts on it were, "okay, if you say so". There is absolutely no way for us in the peanut gallery to know anything about the inner workings, especially without any credible media.

Not sure what you’re saying but what I was saying IIRC is that we were all like HELL YEAH get rid of him! Then we were like OH WAIT THATS A LOTTA MONEY BUT SCREW IT. And now the dump looks reductive and stupid. But I wasn’t calling the board or individuals out. I think the vast majority of us were get these soft losers out of here. And the Duchene thing, maybe like Askarov, may be a big old WHOOPS.

It’s just a bad time. That may be bad for a long time. Sucks.

I was never much of a fan of the Duchene move. Regardless of whether Trotz wanted him gone (or if it was justified), I think there were probably better ways of going about it. And Trotz's later moves don't exactly suggest that he exhausted all other negotiation options.

I also think if the rumor that ROR refused to play with him is true (which I sort of doubt), that speaks to ROR as much as Duchene

No most people were like, well ok I guess there is something he doesn't like about him. Some thought it was silly, but I don't recall anyone standing up and saying that what he should do is get rid of Duchene. I certainly don't recall anyone thinking it was a good idea to buy him out. Maybe you are confusing him with RyJo? Now him just about everyone thought if we could move him it would be a good thing.

It really does feel like as an organization we're just cursed. Not sure if we sold our soul to the Devil for the Cup run or what but it's uncanny how every player (except for Johansen) improves once we move on from them.

Sean Henry's Napoleonic Complex kicked in. Loved the spotlight and famous people instead of maintaining the on ice product. Catering to Bandwagon instead of Loyal Legion.

Maybe it’s bad karma from all of our mean chants.
Will never forget that first playoff series with the Jets and their fans were all mostly complimentary of the Preds going in, and after like one home game it all shifted to crapping on us because the chants were mean. Some of those fans would go into every thread mentioning the Preds for like two years after that to complain about the classless fans and chanting.

I remember this. I also remember getting some shade from some journalists who were interpreting the chants for the national audience that wasn’t familiar with the Bridgestone experience during our run. I think Winnipeg fans were just complaining because they were insecure about the fact that we had the better team back then.

Glass is definitely one I don't think anyone is going to be upset over. I think most of us agreed moving him was ok. I don't think he will ever stay healthy enough to get it figured out.
Glass has already missed about 10 games this season. Unfortunately, his health lives up to his name. I root for him but im not gonna be upset about it.

Tomasino back in last night and healthy is good.
