Win or lose: Rangers really need to get better at sustaining a forecheck and transitional play.

I can forgive the occasional over/lateral passing.

But, I'm starting to get real frustrated with the passive forecheck. This leads to the Rangers forcing the carry and end up getting stood up at the opposing teams blue line.

The Rangers can't play rushing north/south against Pitt. Pitt has too many weapons. This has to be grind and clog game. Unless they expect Kinkaid to steal them a game..

Problem is we are not built to play that type of game

Not against every team. Certain teams you can play a more open style.

Even if the Rangers are not great at it, they need to start attempting that approach.

Otherwise, they will continue losing to beatable teams.

Agree 100% - our passive forecheck drives me bonkers. The quick peel away, or peel away and swing a stick as effort as opposed to finishing an damn check.

One of the most basic items of playing the game, and we're really soft in that department for the most part.
