Interesting as many post-camp predictions had Kempe on the final roster, have to think Setoguchi's contract and Pearson's suspension impacted him.

more so asset management as to not lose anyone with perceived value for nothing quite yet. (at least one of king, clifford, nolan, andreoff, shore or dowd will be traded/waived to make room for gaborik's return for sure.)

kempe definitely will the first forward call up. think it's end of the line for mersch unless they trade king since he doesn't have speed for NHL right now.

Whaaaat? Wasn't Pulock pretty much a lock?

MY guess is he will be on the roster by Game 10. it's just a case he is getting sent down now because he can clear waivers but by Game 10 they will have a better idea about the roster(will Barzal or Beauvillier stick? What to do with Berube and having 3 goalies? If Barzal and Beauvillier stick do they get rid of one of Prince or Quine)

Today, the Flames signed defenceman Nicklas Grossmann to a one-year contract. The Flames also assigned forward Brandon Bollig the AHL's Stockton Heat. In addition, forward Daniel Pribyl has been medically cleared to play and has also been assigned to Stockton. Following these moves, the Flames opening day active roster now sits at 23. Defenceman Ladislav Smid will start the season on injured reserve.

Depending on what you determine to be "opening day", though... from http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com...s-up-wennberg-down-...-but-wait-a-minute.html
Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen wouldn’t confirm plans, but sources told The Dispatch that Wennberg will be recalled this afternoon and will play in Thursday’s season opener against the Boston Bruins in Nationwide Arena.

When Wennberg is recalled, the Blue Jackets will send Pierre-Luc Dubois to his junior club, Cape Breton of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Basically, LTIR shenanigans.

The Avs will take an eternity to announce their roster. Gabriel Bourque is missing on the OP and Rantanen practiced fully today so the Avs have 24. Not sure what the last move is, either putting John Mitchell on IR (he's the only one who hasn't been practicing) or some paper transaction with likely Gabriel Bourque.

I figure you're updating, but Gazdic, Merrill, Quincey, and Kalinin are all on IR for the Devils.

Quincey is likely just temporary as Helgeson was placed on waivers today. I imagine when he clears, Helgeson will be send down and Quincey will be activated tomorrow as it was retroactive to last Wednesday (10/5).

Dunno if it's that helpful, but I've added jersey numbers to the first post. Right now, teams who have released a starting roster with numbers are the only teams that have them, the rest will be added later tonight. I figure with so many new players and players changing teams it might be a handy resource for the opening of the season

That's a very helpful idea. Thank you.

Looking at the Canes roster, once Nakladal clears up Visa issues (McKeown will be sent down), I noticed that they have probably the fewest Canadians on the roster that I can ever remember, only 6, which equals the number of players from US and SWE.

Canada (6): Ward, Staal, Skinner, McClement, Bickell, Di Guieseppe
US (6): Faulk, Hanifin, Slavin, Pesce, Hainsey, Stempniak
SWE (6): Rask, Lindholm, Nordstrom, Stalberg, Dahlbeck, Lack
Czech: (3): Nestrasil, Nakladal, FRK
FIN (2): Aho, Teravainen
