just wanted stop by to say that tye kartye is the biggest bitch in the league and that there is no reason for fowler to play another game as a duck with the way helleson has been playing
Helleson has been a pleasant surprise but I need to see more before I’m entirely convinced.

I rarely notice Colangelo but when I do it’s usually when he turns the puck over. I’d send him back to San Diego once we have some more healthy bodies.

Yay 4 points! I'll have to watch the game tomorrow. We won. Sweetness... it is! Better late than never!

Were Vatrano-Strome-Terry and LaCombe-Zell a quartet for most of the game? All five were a +2 rating in the game.

Vets were very good, the kids not so much outside the defense kids. Terry line was excellent but was the only real threat. As a team rebuilding and not a contender, I hate these kinda wins. Still happy they won don’t get me wrong, and I will be entering Honda Center on Wednesday with them having a chance to go over .500 which will be nice.

We Need the kids getting on the scoresheet and playing well, since Mac came back he has been non existent and Zegras has had two poor games now back to back. Really missing Leo, and Cutter seems to have taken a step back after having some great games.

We need to start raising the bar for this team, and not say “Hey they looked good” I mean they really didn’t outside of the Terry line and some of the young D. That game should have never went to OT. They stopped skating in the 3rd and looked like the team that played the night before.

Thanks for posting that chart @Hockey Duckie , kinda proves my point.

The team already knows what to do to blow games. Have to hope they have learned from it, and will elevate and find ways to now win Games. Of the last 3 games we have lost, arguably we played worse last night than any of the 3 previous games we lost. Gutting it out last night and finding a way to win when we didn’t play great, might even be more of a moral victory for the team. Maybe they will feel lucky about last night given the little luck they had v the kings/kraken/sabres at home. Maybe now they know they have to play a full 60 v vegas. And they actually will do so. Mac and gudas continue to really disappoint and in a really big way.

Well this is why good teams don't lean heavily on young guys. You almost never know what you're gonna get on a nightly basis.

On the positive side, I'm really pleased that this team is competitive most every game lately, even without our guys having their best nights. Hasn't been a truly awful performance since what, the Van game?

Talk about the opponent all you want, but in previous years this would have been exactly the kind of game in which the team would crap the bed.

LaCombe has low key been very good since being paired with Zellweger

Hmmm

He's a bit of a whipping boy, but the gaffes seem much less frequent now.

It’s very hard to make a move on defense.

The weakest link on our back end is prob gudas…. But he brings physicality no one else does

I’m 100% fine rolling the rest of the season with
Minty gudas
Dumo helleson
Zellweger lacombe
- Vaaks as 7th
Luneau/hinds as potential call ups

Young guys will be inconsistent on a game by game basis - it’s the only thing we can count on consistently. Prior to the last 4 games, Terry was 4 pts in 10 games. Vatrano went 3 pts in 10 games. They were cold, and no starting to heat up again. It’s the ebbs and flows of the regular season. It’s why depth matters. When two lines struggle, you hope the other two can pick them up and vice versa. Obviously, you want everyone rolling at the same time, I just don’t think it’s realistic - especially with a rebuilding team.

I think if we can get Carlsson back in between Zegras and Killorn (who has not been a black hole of suck the last couple weeks), move McTavish down to draw some easier matchups, things will be better. Zegras was showing a lot up until Carlsson got hurt. McTavish is the one killing that line now.

Lots of negativity on here.

A gritty, grinding win that honestly felt like they were going to blow it. They didn’t. This team is growing and guys are largely playing well.

Not perfect but found a way to win. Keep growing. I’ll die on this hill - this is not a bad team and the arrow is pointing up. Doesn’t mean they’ll make the playoffs but they’re getting better.

I think this is right - the last couple of weeks have been what I expected this season. They're not great many nights, and there is some inconsistency. But they're playing well enough to get wins in games when they're not at their best (and not just because the goalie steals a win), and they're sprinkling in some legitimately good performances (like against the Kraken on the road and the Black Friday game against the Kings).

If this is what the team is for the rest of the season, I will absolutely take it and be encouraged.
