Another exciting game. But really,... who didn't see that coming,... where we totally dominate the first two periods, yet go into the 3rd tied and then fall behind with 10 minutes left. But for some odd reason, it never gets old when we tie it late and win it in OT! Just great entertainment.

As the great Sam Rosen says,.. HE SCORES,.. RANGERS WIN!!!

Another really fun game to watch. It looks like this Rangers team is starting to build something here. Late period comeback in the third is a great sign!
 
Quite the different game compared to recent. Okay, Minny is no offensive juggernaut, but nevertheless.......nice team win. And yeah, finally followed up with a win on top of an awesome win. We are learning, growing, learning how to win different types of games. It's all good and slowly coming together. All without who "I will continue to call" our best player. Not dissing on Panarin, but you know what I mean. Love my Zbad.

Everyone talking about Kreider, it's up to him if he wants to be a ranger or make the big pay that finishes his career. I dont blame him if he wants a 6 or 7 year deal, but dont confuse this with us not wanting him. I applaud Gorton for doing what Sather should have with Girardi,Staal and even Lundqvist. I dont doubt the rangers would keep Kreider on a 3 or 4 year deal, something that has him leaving when we need the money. If Kreider wants to stay it's up to him but these guys wanna play in NY under their terms and thankfully that isnt happening anymore. I got a kick out of Lundqvist crying last year when Zuc was leaving but not taking any blame for it with his ridiculous contract he wanted and got from sather. He was making almost 7 mill already but his ego wanted the bigger payday so now you ate up some more cap, there are gonna be cap casualties when that happens.

Revisit Hayes and Zuccarella, guys Gorton wouldnt keep for the money and term they wanted, look at their current deals and tell me with a straight face that their deals would be good for this team. I think Kreider is gone but it's not up to gorton it's up to Kreider if he wants to get paid or stay in New York, I dont blame him either way but let's not bemoan it when he leaves because its his choice.

Hayes and Zucc, but also Callahan, McD, Miller, etc... they haven't been as afraid to move/walk away from players who they felt either (a) weren't worth their ask[Hayes], (b) weren't int he long term plans[Miller], or (c) they were able to 'sell high' on [McD].

I honestly think they learned their lesson with Staal-Girardi

Pretty sure Lundqvist is making a smaller percentage of the cap now than he was with his previous contract, but yeah blame him by all means.

Not blaming him but you cant ask for a high salary and then complain when there is no money for your little buddy.

Really stretching it. Do you think Gorton would spent it on Zuke if Lundqvist’s contract was $2m cheaper? HIGHLY doubtful.

I would guess its more a matter of putting him in situations that best take advantage of his strengths and don't expose his weaknesses. I personally don't have a big problem with that.

Part of me kind of feels bad for Zucc.

I think he was a good fit in Dallas, but for a variety of reasons, he's in Minnesota. But unless something changes, it already looks like he may have jumped right back into a similar situation to the one he was in with the Rangers.

Lindgren's on the left side and mostly with Fox. Rangers right side is pretty good actually---that's what's cutting into Tony's ice time--he's got to share with Trouba and Fox. Tony's our best offensive D and a little ahead of Fox as far as the offense right now but I'm thinking Fox (who is 3 years younger and a rookie) will catch up on that. Fox is better than Tony defensively. Rangers are getting outstanding cumulative offensive production out of all three. Trouba's 10 points in 22 games pro-rates close to a 40 point season. Fox's 11 pro rates to about 45 and I think it's possible that he might do better. DeAngelo's 17 points in 22 games including 7 goals prorates to about 65 points and over 25 goals. I would guess he is not going to be able to continue at that pace particularly the goals but he's been outstanding offensively.

Here's the other thing though--ice time can be a funny thing. Some d-men are going to give you their best game with 18 minutes average ice time and if you play them too much they'll give less. Some guys can play all night long and that's kind of Trouba. Tony also loses some ice time because he doesn't penalty kill. And you can factor Brendan Smith into the equation when he's moved back on D in those situations.

As far as I’m concerned you don’t worry about paying your righty D if they are worth the money. We can run a ton of lefty Dmen in and out of our org if need be. But if you’ve got 3 stud righties you keep them under control. Fox has what two more years left after this one making under a mil? We can come back to that conversation in two years. A signed tony DeAngelo is much more valuable to a potential trade partner than an unsigned one.
 
By the way

Trouba is averaging 22 mins.
Tony D is averaging 18 mins.
Fox is averaging 17:45 mins.

pretty even. And I love having one of those 3 on the ice at all times. Eventually 77 and or 23 will get pk mins too and that will up them close to 20 a game.

I think there’s some truth to what @ohbaby said, solid play from Fox-Lindgren as a pair ate in ADA ice time lately.

When did he complain? He was just sad one of his best friends for the bast couple of years was moving on and he wouldn’t see him basically every day anymore.

Man I woke up feeling great today.

Unlimited bread kicks all morning. My kicks only get to about my waist if that, these days and there was only one but you get the idea.

boys are looking good and should only get better with Mika coming back. Before the season I thought this team could battle for a wild card spot. I have no reason to believe they can’t at least up until the deadline.
