At the beginning of the season, I proposed that Trouba may be a good partner for Skjei to pick his game up, due to those guys being close and playing together before. I’m not sure if the good play will last, but I’m glad Quinn decided to try them for more than just one game. I’m not saying I’m some kind of genius. Only that Skjei needed an experienced partner imo. Though he has had good games with DeAngelo. Idk. Maybe he’s just an inconsistent player.

What? Lol. You know me. I want his contract as cheap as possible, but I would pay whatever it takes to keep him.
His best comprable of recent RFAs is Colin Miller who got 4/15 a couple years ago. Maybe he gets better counting stats but no one is offer sheeting him. I think they'll do a 2/6ish deal for him.

In terms of 'cheaper' people are acting like he would have accepted a seven year deal at 3M or something like its NHL20. Ridiculous, but also a huge anchor when those go bad (Rostislav Olesz for example)

He’s a rock. One of the most critical ranger’s players imho.

I would have given him 8 years at a 4-5 mil AAV. That’s about what I said towards the end of last season. I don’t think anyone thought he would take a 3 mil AAV on a long term deal. But that’s just me. Right now he’s going to demand 6-6.5 mil on a short-term deal and 7 mil+ on a long-term deal if his points per game stays about the same.

He's a 1st year arb-eligible with lingering attitude issues. While he can ask for whatever he wants, on no planet is he going to get 6M next year. A 3.5M award would be something like a 375% salary increase.

I cannot figure out why people are so scared he's gonna hold the Rangers over a barrel and get awarded that much money.

I agree. I’m one of the few that said I still have hope for him. I said that when everyone was ready to crucify him. But on the other hand, I’m not convinced he’s some great player based on a couple games.

I think a number of fans will complain about the price/call him a luxury with Fox and ADA looking good and prospects like Lundkvist coming soon, but I think there's a ton of value in having Trouba around to eat minutes and put the young RDs in a place where they don't need to do as much.

He got screwed over with his current contract. Bad. And the Rangers are going to want a long-term deal. Not arbitration to make the next contract even worse. And what attitude issues? You mean the maturity issues? I don’t see any this year.
