Edit: Never mind

Pat Leonard "Brad Richards is here at Coliseum, but since he's not skating this AM it is likely he will sit out a second straight game"

“@NYDNRangers: Richards says he's letting neck and back heal, not a long term thing, no concussion, but assesses every day #NYR”

Richards is probably at the Harrison practice rink getting treatment and/or skating. There was no reason for him to go to Nassau if he isn't going to play tonight since its a local away game. Hopefully he is back tomorrow night.

Nope, he's at the NVMC

No need to rush him back. We looked good last game and are playing, imo, a lesser team in the Isles tonight.

We're going to need him to be good down the stretch. Let the team heal right now.

Richards usually plays well against the Isles. Would have liked to see him back in the lineup. I guess we get to see another whopping 4 mins of Bickel tonight, whoopie!

But other than that...

I like Strang, I like Gross, I like Brooks for his information but other than that he's the worst of them all when it comes to arrogance. Zipay and Cerny piss me off. Leonard is okay for now, maybe he'll get better with time, still somewhat young and new to the game here.

You're better off following the freelance bloggers for good in-game insight than the guys who actually get paid to do that job.

You think so? I think most of them are arrogant and don't know much about hockey.

I like Gross. I usually just check his twitter for news. I actually met him at a game once. Really nice guy. I tried to get Brooks attention but he wouldn't acknowledge me

Reading the NHL.com preview for this game, this stuck out:

"It resembled a playoff game," Islanders forward Matt Martin said.

Safe to assume they left off the end of that quote: "I mean, I think. I dunno."

lol. Nice.

I was actually going to add that on myself until I saw your last sentence.

That's good, maybe he needs to take a little break. Maybe when he gets back he'll be in better form and start stepping it up.

Really?

Brooks, Zipay, Gross? Been to 1000s of games. They know plenty and do a good job - even if you don't always agree with their views, which I don't. Pat Leonard is good too IMO

I thought Strang was an Isles writer/reporter/what have you?

Staal is out and Richards is out. Oh well, you get no sympathy in this league. Let's buck up and pull together here boys :handclap:

I think our beat writers do a great job.

Not too long ago there was a time when we received absolutely no coverage during training camps, no daily updates, etc. Everyone clamors when we don't hear anything official on an injury after 4 hours these days - think about when we didn't even know who the starting goalie was until warmups that night.

Of course we have social media and the blogosphere to thank, but these beat writers actually have a job to write articles for their publications and spend a lot of extra time providing us with daily, sometimes hourly updates. (Obviously its part of their job now to get hits on their blog domains)

I think they do a fantastic job, especially Gross who's my favorite. Loved Sam he was great too. I don't see Cerny as a beat guy, because he works for the team and the Rangers propaganda oozes out of him like slime.
