I mean, Frans Karjalahti at least has played Finnish u16 league, 6 games for 7 points.

Why pretend that they're still in skating school or something?

Yeah, generally you can only project the very special talents. However, the first time I saw Connor Bedard at WSI when he was 13 years old and I certainly think you could tell that he'll be quite good.
I dunno this just seems so far into the future it's crazy to think about, but hey if u wanna chat about it. go ahead

Assuming he turns out good enough, I have a feeling (it is really no more than that) that we will have a similar situation as with Alex Ciernik, so I am leaning towards Slovakia.

Either way I am rooting for the kid, and since he is playing near where I live, I may actually get a chance to see him play in person this season.
Or maybe next season, if he stays with the club.
Ciernik never considered to play for Germany, he said that he has always felt 100% slovak. Maybe the Fatyka kid doesn't even speak slovak and feels german. It's hard to say

Really Damn early.
It's harder than usual to look for prospect names, as this draft class's Brick Invitational was cancelled by covid and a lot of other events like the WSI were affected by it as well. (most of my names are late 2009 borns, not 2010 borns)

None the less, I'll put 8 young "prodigies" here to see whether we are right or wrong about all of them:

F Hugo Altorn, Sweden (Lead the WSI U13 Tournament in scoring in 2022):
D Samuel Storck, Sweden (Played in J18 Div. 2 this year):
F Maddox Schultz, Canada (The Main Canadian guy to look out for easily imo): Maddox Schultz at eliteprospects.com
F Jayden Pominville, Canada (Jason's Son):
F Frans Kaljalahti, Finland (Another Finnish guy I don't understand the hype for):
D Holden Sexsmith, Canada (Legendary last name):
F Evan Bradon, England (One of the Bradon brothers, who are british prodigies right now):
D Otto Puhakka, Finland (One more flying finn. Plays in north america.):

I will add only those European players who have not been mentioned here yet...

Today in Quebec ended a representative tournament for boys born in 2010. In the final, the Czech Knights defeated Detroit Red Wings 4:2. Lucas Andrejko (2+1 in the final game) was the top scorer of the Czech team in the tournament.

Karjalahti is a small-frame, relatively weak player with good passing skills. He has really been in a wrong league this year and seems to be in U15 now with < 1 PPG. Despite the points in the U16 league, he has not been on the level of the game. Hopefully he can develop in an environment that is most helpful to flourish but at the moment difficult to see him in the 2028 NHL Draft.

What do you expect? Theyre 12 and getting thru puberty, its insane to think you can project who is going to develope at what level.
See this is what i used to think. Common sense right? Yeah then i happened to look at the leading scorers at the Brick tournament.
Here's the leading scorers from the Brick in 2014-15 :Elite Prospects - Brick Invitational Stats 2014-2015
The top 15 scorers include: Leonard, Heidt, Bedard, yager, Ritchie, Moore, Smith and Barlow. That's a tournament from 8 years ago that has a good chunk of this year's 2005 born north american 1st rounders in it. I find it bizarre but it is what it is i guess.

People laugh but this is definitely the age where you need to start positioning your kid in the right position to make it to Juniors.

NHL radar is way too far off, Junior radar not so much. If there are any exceptional player status candidates from that birth year right now in Canada, they should be starting to emerge and "hitting the radar" to speak this offseason.

Till Schulz (the Schulz gif, however, is more than two years old '- I don’t know how things are with the guy now)

I don't know all that much, since I haven't seen him, but from what I found on the internet, it seems he has moved from Hannover which plays in a very weak league, to Iserlohn during this season, where he plays at a significantly higher level.

Compared to similar aged players in the league he is doing ok, but does not stand out statistically. However, his team finished last among the 5 teams in the league, so it's to be expected that his stats wouldn't be too impressive.

I have a pretty comprehensive list of 2010 kids out of Ontario, if anyone wants it, shoot me a DM.

There is Maximus Mavrou who could be an elite name in the future. Played well as an underage at the 2019 Brick.

Cole Coristine is another name I’ve been keeping an eye on. He is probably the top name out of a strong Sun County Panthers team.

Lukas Andrejko out of Czechia looks promising, same with Nico Novak.

AJ Moore is a kid to watch.

Elite Prospects - Brick Invitational Stats 2010-2011 Even greater

1. Caufield
2. Zegras
3. Turcotte
5. Jack Hughes

all top 15 picks 3 in the top 10 2 in the top 5

As well as Dach and Boldy in that list

A few days ago the "WSI Elite-2010" tournament ended. The victory was won by the "Czech Knights" team, who defeated the Slovak team 7:1 in the final. The top scorer of the Czech team in the preliminary round was Marek Sedláček, while Nicolas Novak scored the most points in the playoffs. I will also note the game of such hockey players as Sven Stalder and Christopher Pinko.

Yeah the top kids from the age group quite frequently stay the top kids from the age group.
Exactly this. I grew up in the AAA scene and even thinking back to when we were 10 years old, the elite top end guys ended up making it. Of course a few dropped off the map, but its definitely not a crazy discussion to have.

My son is 2031 eligible. He’s 4’2 55 lbs. Size is definitely the knock on him, but he scored 2 goals this weekend in a game against the 2030 eligible squirts this weekend. Keep an eye on him.

Basically this at this point maybe one or 2 elite guys might stand out but to say it's early is an overstatement to say the least

Tobiáš Ořechovský is a very serious talent, he will probably fight for the title of the best goaltender in the draft. Somewhat reminiscent of Michael Hrabal - just as tall (assumed to be 6'5'' at the time of the draft) and reliable.
Supersave.

Obviously, the Czech coaches think he is the No. 1 of his generation in Czechia and every year there are 2 Czech goalkeepers selected.

Announced 5'1 on EP at age 13. I hope that's wrong. That's the size of an average guy at 11 years old.

You’re complaining about the size of a 13 year old? Before many have even hit puberty?

I’ve seen it all on these fourms

In an NHL where goalies under 6.0 have no chance of being selected, someone who is 5.1 at 13 has no chance. At that age, I was 5.5 and having had normal growth, I reached 5.11. No overreaction. Just thinking.

If you had thought about the average height of a 13 year old man you would not have written your message.

You’re such a weirdo

13 year olds aren’t men, they’re kids.

KIDS

I'm a teacher. On a daily basis, I see the difference between an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old kid. 5.1 to 13 years old is very small. That's the height of an average kid of 6th grade. To be an NHL goaltender, the standards are even higher.

As already said, I was taller than him at the same age and my adult height is insufficient for NHL standards.

I don't know where you read that I said he was a man. Overreaction.
