People laughing at Dickinson making 4 a year to be a 3C. But also want to sign Drury at 3.5 a year to be a 4C? I don't get it.

I don't claim to be knowledgeable of anything insider related but I think we have a D on the market. And no, it's not Makar.

IMO, the difference between the two is that Dickinson is four years older and is always hurt. Drury is also one of the best faceoff men in the league, while Dickinson is horrendous.

The cap is going to be $113.5M in '27-'28, $18M higher than it was this season. We just saw Dickinson and McCarron get paid, and rumors are swirling about Mikheyev (career high 36pts) asking for $5M+ this offseason.

I'm fine no matter what happens with Drury. I think they can get a haul for him. I also think ~$3.5M is stomachable.

If you adjust everyone's salary to Brock's expectations this team would be at 230 million in cap.

Drury is only worth 3.5M if you think he can be a solid 3rd liner maintaining defensive responsibility and putting up 45 points.
Don't you think the expectations are higher because he was an "All In" move, and we are in the window right now?

I wouldn't move Drury unless we get a late first in the deal. When the cap is close to 123M in two years, 3.5M might look really good.

IMO, you only move Drury if, you get a great offer, or, you need his traded assets to acquire the D you want.

If his ask is reasonable, or the return isn’t strong enough, his cap hit on a 100+M cap is extremely reasonable. He had a good playoffs and is reliable

How is it fair? On what planet is paying a 26 year old with a career high 27 points and is a 4th line center 3.5M fair?
How much do you think is fair then? To me Andrew Copp is a good comparable. He was known as a defensive C with a career high of 28 points when he got a 2.28M contract. Adjusted to the current cap it'd be 3M.

You start paying this kind of money for 4th line players, you start having cap problems.

Drury needs to be traded if he wants 3.5M+ long term.

Drury 5x3.25, and it helps us stay younger, you move Roy, and also becomes a fill in if Kadri has an injury..

A fill-in for Kadri where? At 3C? Bednar has made it clear Drury is not a 3C.

He gave him plenty of chances there, Drury was an offensive black hole, Bednar demanded a better 3C and moved Drury back to 4C. He has called Drury an elite 4C to the media.

The Avs offered Drury a 4th line extension. Two offers. Kelly term, LOC money. They’re saying “you are equal to your linemates on that elite 4th line.” Drury thinks he is a 3C.

It doesn’t matter what we think. This discussion needs to end. Neither side see eye to eye on the player’s role or contract expectations long-term.

He needs to be traded.

So who was the third man? :D:confused::(

Hogan. It was revealed like 30 years ago, bro.

Didn't Copp have a bit of an upwards trajectory then an injury year but there was at least a projection he could hit 40 points?

Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I thought he was viewed as a good third liner. I guess scoring may have been lower in those years. A clear tier above Drury.
