Rumor: 2026 Trade Rumors and Free Agency: Offseason Edition

I found San Jose's trade of Eklund a bit puzzling in this context. But theory is they've been trying to move down in exchange for a proven NHL top 4 defenseman, etc. and when it didn't pan out they got #9, knowing they will get a promising defensive prospect there and still get Stenberg who can likely play next year. For a chance the Sharks management might actually know what they're doing.
Mike Grier has done a solid job imo.

Take advantage of that dummy Sakic.

Yeah that tried that before and made the team worse, then gave up on it, and now they're trying it again!?

I think Drury is just the mouthpiece for Larry Dolan at this point, he doesn't have a real vision for the team it's just what his boss wants. I'm sure Dolan's going to wreck the championship Knicks as well.

Another GM who doesn't seem to know what he's doing.

"We are rebuilding but want to stay competitive"

It's good you're not a foreman on a construction site. Your crew could take a wrecking ball to the old building, tear it down to the studs and you'd still be like "Nope, set it on fire."

They got four first rounders, and the offer sheets so far have proven to be good moves. They got rid of the one guy they've been trying to trade and got amazing value for him, and kept the center who, well, played a whole lot better the moment he heard his name in rumors. I don't really blame them for not wanting to trade him now.

Keeping Thomas I get it (even though he'd bring back an absolute monster return). But keeping a 33 yo Parayko, who still has good value on the market, is not good GM'ing.

Parayko was reportedly willing to waive his NMC to get traded in the West.

Eh, whatever. Avs didn't trade away EJ even though they probably would've gotten decent value for him, Parayko could yet happen, might be that they just haven't gotten what they feel is a good enough offer.

Mind you, I'm not sitting here singing Doug Armstrong's praises--I've done quite the opposite over the years--but I unfortunately have to give him credit for some of the moves he's made of late.

I almost want Stevie to just hold onto Larkin haha
