Rumor: 2026 Trade Rumors and Free Agency: Offseason Edition

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I know a lot of people were wondering this :

The Byram stuff is INSANE. First the trade and absolute fleecing by the Sabres and now I'm reading (it's Dreger so grain of salt) that he might get $12m+/yr? WTF is going on?

Chicago lol
Bo’s played alright since his traded from CO. But that would be one of the most undeserved contracts of all time lmao.

Alright, I can share one bit of news I heard on Wednesday.

Teams interested in Nichushkin as of now:

Detroit (the most, by far)

Chicago
Utah

Toronto
Ottawa
NY Islanders
Washington

Split up by groups of interest. Red Wings want him bad. Chicago and Utah checked in more than once, but I don't think the Avs want to trade him in the division. Feelers from the rest.

Update I got tonight on Val when I checked in about the Drury return:

- Washington are out on Nichushkin. Kyrou/Tuch additions at RW.
- Ottawa have moved up alongside Chicago and Utah in interest levels. Sens and Avs are talking a lot.
- There doesn't seem to be a fit between Detroit and Colorado. Red Wings won't give up the type of players and/or picks the Avs want. Could change, they still really like him, but fit between the two sides doesn't seem to be there.

Detroit

Chicago
Utah
Ottawa

Toronto
NY Islanders

Avs want to get something done by Friday before the draft, but the exact quote I got... "Joe doesn't follow a deadline or timeline." Sakic will never budge unless/until he likes a deal.

So does Val have value again? CJ mentions "reasonable" contract. A year ago it might've been next to impossible to dump him.

Do you know what Sakic is asking for Val?

Uh-ho don't they employ one Warren Foegele??

Nuke is going to end up in the Central as well, isn't he.
Maybe he could become a sleeper Dallas killer for us.

I've had a hunch about Ottawa and Nuke since they traded Brady.

Kleven and a pick makes a lot of sense, he's the exact type of D that Pratt and the staff have been able to get value out of, and his ceiling is the highest of all those past guys by far

Then you have the obvious Foegele interest that they've shown, so I could see that being the swap but I'm less keen on him now unless they can retain half his salary.

The under the radar pick who screams Avs player is Amadio, though, so I could also see him being the guy. Maybe even added alongside Kleven

Anything you can share regarding how the front office sees the players acquired? Just simply taking a chance on some former first rounders and hoping for some luck or actual plans to have them potentially fill some holes next year?
