I’ll admit I still have no idea how the hell we delete posts now…
It's just easy to play the hindsight hero and ignore any and all context. It's not worth it to discuss any of this anymore. People are mad and want to yell at someone. Might as well let them yell at Cmac if it makes them feel better.Half ya'll losing your mind on CMac were slobbering all over him in the Byram for Mitts thread... myself included. Turned out horribly with hindsight with how terrible of a fit Casey ended up being but Byram catching fire this year and The Hawks going all in on that high does not mean the Avs were going to turn Bo into a top 5 pick+. It turned out like shit and CMac was partially to blame, but only a few of ya'll actually saw this coming.

The Avs being laughed at on a night they didnt even participate is hurting me
Preview of how this summer will go ?![]()

#8 in our 2024 polls, behind Foudy and Olausson.Nabokov, Gully, Behrens, Ivan, Prishchepov, Curran, Miner, probably more were ahead of him. Most people laughed that he was the main prospect included at the time
Ottawa 100 points and makes it to at least the second round. Avs to lose in first round. They made a lot of people look bad by being the odds favorite to win it all, and getting swept by the SCF loser.
They deserve to be laughed at, pretty much at every level.
No way. Yall forget the Shermanator? Or giggyCmac will go down as one of the worst Avs GM in history when its all said in done.
Yep, all hindsight. No evidence to support CMac being a horrible GM.It's just easy to play the hindsight hero and ignore any and all context. It's not worth it to discuss any of this anymore. Sometimes teams have to make moves. Bedard has been there for 3 years and needs better players around him. They can't rely on draft picks who won't make the team competitive for another 2 or 3 years at best.Feels like Chicago will never be good
I don't hate the idea of them trying to get better now. I'm not sure Byram is the guy to go all in on though.Sometimes teams have to make moves. I feel like Chicago was going hard for Knies with their pick and couldn't come to a deal and then panicked and moved for Byram for some reason.Apparently Chicago was betting it all on getting Stenberg and pivoted hard when they realized SJ was a lock to draft him. I kinda get it because Stenberg is a level above those others, but it seems like their GM hit the panic button and sent that pick to the first team to ask.

They're still making a big gamble that Byram can be a 1D. Byram has to shore up some pretty integral parts of his game to be a 1D and Chicago just basically sent their 2026 draft and a potential 2nd pairing dman for him.Byram is young enough to help them for a long time and old enough to help them right now. He won a cup, can play top pair. These players aren't always available.
Exactly this.I don't hate the idea of them trying to get better now. I'm not sure Byram is the guy to go all in on though.
I really don't understand the narrative that Chicago needs to speed things up for Bedard. Bedard is the oldest part of their rebuild and the team was going to start to turn the corner this year anyway. Sure he needs an extension and that might be adding some pressure, but just be patient and trust the process. What they need is to give him forwards to play with, not a guy like Byram.Sometimes teams have to make moves. Bedard has been there for 3 years and needs better players around him. They can't rely on draft picks who won't make the team competitive for another 2 or 3 years at best.
