Rumor: 2026 Trade Rumors and Free Agency: Offseason Edition

I f***ing hate this sentiment. The Pandora's box has been opened ages ago, and it's not getting closed without actual rule changes. When every single team and GM around the league is already doing it, trying to back off will only mean that the players are going somewhere else where they will get that NMC. And that would be 31 other teams.

I have ZERO doubt that this issue will be raised in the next CBA negotiations in 2030. Whether or not this is actually something the owners are dead set on pursuing, is another thing.
There is no need for any rule change. There's nothing wrong with NMC's.

I'm of the belief that a NTC/NMC should be voided if the player is the one requesting a trade.

Now, players might try their own imaginary version of a NTC by telling interested teams "I'm not signing so don't bother" but it could lead to a Mikko Rantanen situation ala Carolina where they get great pieces back anyways, so who knows.

It should be a fixed metric. If a player signs a NMC, they shouldn't be able to be moved through the duration of the contract. If it's a 10 team NTC or something like that, name the 10 teams at the start of the contract. No changing the teams up every season. Make it public. I want chaos.

A simply fix would be to allow NMC/NTCs but... if a player is under one and asks for a trade... that request immediately voids the NMC/NTC and allows the GM to trade him to any team he wants.

It puts the shit completely on the players back for asking out of a deal they signed. Do you want out? Do you REALLY want out or not?

Tkachuk didn't request a trade. But he made it known he didn't want to be there and gave up on the team.

Players hold the cards in this one. And I'm ok with it.

If your team is a desirable place to play then you'll be able to attract enough talent to win.

Carolina isn't a tax free state with with beaches and female masseuses but just won the cup and compete every year.

Minny is on the desirable list despite not having much of any success. They're basically like America's Winnipeg but can get players.

According to Staios, Tkachuk did request a trade.

How low can they get the AAV on Kulak if they stretch out the term longer than they should with a guy like him?

Has Nichushkin’s player assistance program penalty threshold been reset or anything now that he’s been good for a couple of years?

Don't like Nuke's picture attached to the article.

Google ai says there's not a true reset..

With Dallas being Larkin's team of choice, if Detroit can get Robertson in return they might actually be in a good spot. Next trade for Pettersson from Vancouver. And I guess grab Nuke. Bring back Kane. Cap dump Compher. Still needs some defensive help, though the top pair is set with Edvisson - Seider.

Get an asset or three asking with a retained Nurse for the second pairing. The Yzerplan is complete.

They could easily compete for 11th in the East with that roster.
