I had almost forgotten that you are the only one who gets to cherry pick. Just because you see it differently, doesn't mean it's not part of the whole picture.
Career WAR is the same. Mead is under controll for less years and is older. Earlys GS last season look as much of an outlier as Meads numbers this year when you factor in the other 3 seasons before and 3 teams have already given up on him. That's simply not a good lock.
Summed up: this a pure "what have you done for me, lately" trade. Pretty much the same as "sell low, buy high". That's what I said before you changed the goal posts. But it's the usual spin when the Sox make a trade, that it has to be liked.
It has gotten a little better, but usually one trick pony players without a defensive position have taken a hit over the years in terms of value.
lmao listen all I said was he’s been the more valuable player this season. To date that’s just a factual statement. Taking 4 very clear outlier starts from a different season and adding it to Early’s fWAR for this season isn’t cherry picking, it’s just disingenuous. This is their first seasons as regulars.
Now- What are their respective fWAR’s this year? The reason you did what you did is because Mead’s doubling him up this season. It hasn’t been that close so far. That can change but the underlying stuff says it probably won’t
If you think Early is more like the guy he was last season in 4 starts then I get why people wouldn’t like it. But the performance this season is more in line with his minor league performance and his scouting reports coming up. It’s also a much bigger sample than the dominant 20 innings last year after his call-up

Don’t get to watch the Sox much so living through this thread mainly. Angels blow but have a great broadcast crew so I watch them over Dodgers. Zach Neto is a great player on a horrible team. He’s super competitive. Be a phenomenal pickup for the Sox even though he’s having a down season.

Call me old school but the strikeouts scare me away, as does his league leading errors at short. I like Neto but those are two big red flags to me. He just seems like a younger Trevor Story - which isn't an awful thing but I think they can and should look for better.

Yeah he definitely has his warts. He stays healthy though and would mash at Fenway. It’s hard to quantify just how bad and dysfunctional the Angels ownership and coaching has been since Neto entered the league. I believe he’d benefit from and be better in Boston. Anyhow, now’s the time to get him since his analytics are at an all time low.
I’ve been loving the platoon guys. Not sure they’d get it done postseason though.

Nice to win the series coming off that streak against a divisional opponent. Could’ve been a letdown spot
They did the hardest part in getting the record back in the green - just maintain it and work on winning each series and avoiding long losing streaks.
according to Tracy it’s the players making the call on a lot of these sac bunts. 2 of the 3 today were called by the players
I’m obviously not a huge sac bunt guy but I gotta say it’s been working great, especially since they’re now getting timely hits
I think a lot of the success doing it is because these guys are actually taking pride in it

Well, it's July 26 so the "use money to improve" ship has sailed.
Anyway, during the off-season no one knew that Anthony was going miss most of the season, or Story would return to being useless, Duran & Narvaez would be hitting under .200 or that Mayer would actually regress.
And they did acquire Contreras and Durbin in the off-season.

I was also gonna mention how this kid is gonna get drilled A LOT, he has some of the slowest home run trots I’ve ever seen. He does have the excuse of being a refrigerator working in his favor at least

Which is why I said promoted him to AA
as hes done enough in Single-A
He'll be back.
But damn, I dont think we win 2 games in that streak without his arm and defense.
He did everything we could’ve asked of him as a fill-in, he should be a good bench infielder for somebody (maybe us next year, who knows what the roster will look like at this point)
