Red Sox/MLB 2026 Regular Season IV, 32-46

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
$55 million player needs to screw another player to eat up the first inning so he can feel better and still pitch mediocre.

Guy is a bust.

It's time for Bello to develop shoulder/forearm/bicep/pinkie soreness and DL him to get his head straightened out. Emergency call to Dr. Pedro to fix this ASAP.

If you're not gonna publicly fire Breslow yet at least gag him and stuff him in a locker. Do not let him be the one to sell off pieces at the deadline.

My only question is whether the relief totals you have include the games with an opener because in my book that's not really relief as much as it is a problem with the mass between his ears.
He is relieving the opener so that technically counts as relief

Lol, I get it but the opener is like his binky, when they try to take away his binky he loses it...literally. Too big of a contract for a long reliever. Get him straightened out or it's another big L for the front office.

Needing an "opener" when you're a starter is the biggest loser shit in the world.

You can be effective if you start the game in the second, but not the first? f*** off. Get the f*** off my team.

Bello
Campbell
Anthony

The congratulatory contract victories aren't working, something Cora was right to be concerned about.

The only one they are getting bang for their buck on is the Rafaela deal. That guy posts every day, no drama. You know what you're gonna get.

True and even though he does strike out a lot; the guy is an elite defender too

Had to be done.

Sorsa stats aren't encouraging

5 Games 10.80 ERA 8 ER

But who knows lol
Yeah he was rough last year in his brief stint with the reds, he’s been better in the pirates system. He had the same upward mobility clause Kahnle had.

Prior to last season he had 40ish games of mid 4’s ERA ball in the majors. He is thoroughly mediocre but he has an option and I ultimately see him replacing Coulombe (who I think will be DFA’d) when they need to call a SP in 5 days

So are they going bullpen game as a 5th starter now? Not that it matters.

Jeff Passan ( ESPN ) on what the Sox should do at the trade deadline.

from espn.com:

Boston Red Sox

Objective: Ensure that this team really is as mediocre as it looks.

Best player potentially available: Aroldis Chapman, RP

What to know: The Red Sox want to believe they can claw their way back into contention, and in the AL, anything is possible. But the hole they've dug themselves, combined with the lack of high-end relief pitching available at the deadline, puts Boston in the driver's seat to control that segment of the trade market. And seeing what contending teams are willing to pay for top-end relief arms, Chapman could generate an excellent return for a free-agent-to-be, and Garrett Whitlock could be among the best right-handed options should he return healthy from a knee injury.

The Red Sox do have plenty of players with expiring contracts: utilityman Isiah Kiner-Falefa, veteran left-hander Danny Coulombe and Patrick Sandoval, who's expected back soon after sitting out the past two years following internal brace surgery. Boston could consider moving right-hander Sonny Gray, though teams will balk at the cost (more than $10 million in salary, plus a $5 million buyout on an option). It's less prohibitive but still true for first baseman Willson Contreras, who could be a popular target considering the dearth of impact bats and has a full no-trade clause. And while teams will continue to ask about outfielder Jarren Duran, the difference between how Boston and potential suitors value him remains steep.

It will most likely be Jake Bennett, there is no point in calling him up until he starts though. Might as well carry another reliever until then

Durran has been hitting the ball well a lately and could help a good lineup. Breslow can't be trusted to make any moves though
