He came over as an unrestricted free agent seeking a long-term contract north of $8 million and the Golden Knights were obviously prepared to make that happen, considering the package they shelled out to acquire him. All indications are that Andersson and the Golden Knights have had a handshake deal in the neighborhood of $8.5 million for six or seven years, which is being held up by VGK’s current cap situation. That situation resolves itself on or slightly before July 1st, which will then pave the way for Andersson’s new monster deal.
