For all that are panicking. Florida is just trying to keep the run going, much like the Bruins did for the last 15 years. We traded our firsts all the time. Nothing new here.
Enough with this "common sense" you bring. Dont you know the entire franchise is melting now?

My hope is Bruins keep the course and quietly build while the rest of the Atlantic beats the shit out of each other. No need to outdo the "hot" teams right now. No need to undo the blow-it-up dealine.

Really sucks how Toronto rigged McKenna and Boston got swindled in the process though. Lean into the underdog identity Bruins. Fight like hell but no need to panic. All this said? I'm taking calls on a lot of dudes not named Pasta, Minten, or Hagens.

Let's be honest here....They are going to get their guy signed by then. In 2 years the cap will be up enough. They'll get him in Florida dollars for 10-12m. He'll stay with big brother.

Plus side is the parents can truly retire there now.
No body else was going to be able to sign him though if he was all in for FLA and already spoiling the nest in Ottawa

It won't be Lundell. They refused to trade him to Ottawa and he has obvious upside so it makes no sense to then move him subsequently. Rodrigues though would make a lot of sense. Capable player but not a core piece.

Florida has 13 forwards& 6Dmen against the cap and 7M cap space

They can spend already 6M on a starting goalie, they’ll likely trade Rod for 3 extra mills

But only today is 7M seen as nothing in cap space

I don't think Minten is nearly as untouchable as those other two... and it wouldn't be worth trading Swayman in any realistic scenario so I'd add him to the list.

I don't think it was rigged .Its more the Bruins have bad luck .100 + years 6 Cups screams it .

Seems like the only option right now would be to run it back and quietly stack assets and young talent. I really hope Sweeney doesnt try to "be aggressive" by overpaying for the next David Backes. I don't see many moves out there for this team right now.

I think so. I see no moves the Bruins can make that would push them into real contending territory next season. So don't get desperate and do anything stupid.

Stay the course, make a couple of solid depth adds if you can, hold on tight to your futures and hope you can really start to kick things forwards in 12 months' time or whenever exactly the circumstances are more favorable.

If you are a Pasta or McAvoy this is probably not what you want to hear but I don't think the Bruins can offer them much else. You hope they are willing to be patient, if not then difficult conversations may need to be had.

What’s the floor? If the Bruins realize it’s over their only chance is Jim Montgomery is named Florida coach for the playoffs, can they skip FA and trade off Zacha, Mits, Zadarov, Lohrei and start drafting and sucking to get top 5 picks ?

There is no need to spend near the cap and I’m Jacobs I’d love an extra 30 - 40 M

and they got the first Tkachuk because they drafted and developed Huberdeau
Listen the bottom line is they traded for Matthew and now they traded for Brady that's how you win the cup not draft hagens for example and hope he becomes one of those two players

Florida isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Carolina is built to last now as well. Montreal and Buffalo are clearly another tier above the Bruins and are the best bets against Panthers and Canes. Those are 4 incredibly tough matchups in the playoffs for at least another 3+ years. If I was a Don, I would not be so short sighted to think adding Trochek, keeping Zacha or Arviddsson, or drafting in the 20s the next few years is going to be any part of the solution to slingshot us tiers above.
