That’s a pretty massive haul for two years of Brady. The roster is pretty amazing, but old and injury prone, if they stay healthy and can get a goalie though they should definitely be back in the hunt.

I’d like to see the Bruins ante up and get Robertson from Dallas

Let's be honest here....They are going to get their guy signed by then. In 2 years the cap will be up enough. They'll get him in Florida dollars for 10-12m. He'll stay with big brother.

Plus side is the parents can truly retire there now.

I feel personally attacked by this second line.

Jason Robertson is likely staying in Dallas. Maverik Bourque is on the move…
?

I don't think Bourque being traded has much to do with how likely Robertson is to stay in Dallas - obviously if he signs then Robertson's gone, but him going doesn't mean they will necessarily keep Robertson. They have 10m in cap, 13m if they trade Lyubushkin. Assuming Robertson wants 12-14m, signs for 13m, they would have no cap space and three roster spots to fill. Technically they'd have the minimum number of players, but still.

Florida literally f***ing started off by developing their players. Barkov was the #2 overall pick in his year. Ekblad was the #1 overall pick in his year. Reinhart, Forsling, Verhaeghe, and Bennett were guys who didn't break out until Florida developed them into the players they are. They also drafted Lundell 12th overall.

The only guys who were fully developed when they got there were basically the Tkachuk's, Marchand, Jones, Bobrovsky and then some other nondescript players.
Great job by Zito, no matter how you look at it!!

Trades the draft, Sweeney needs to learn or be put out to pasture!

The way things with shake out is they will overpay for Andersson and bring back Arvi (which also isn’t going to be a team friendly deal either or he would have re-signed already). That’s my bet now on what they do. It will be the same we want to create a competitive team yadda yadda, and yes they probably will be in the mix for a wildcard spot again assuming many players reach the same numbers as last season.

I’d be beyond surprised if they traded any players for someone with potential but may possibly not pan out this summer. Say like Zacha for Mctavish type trade. And no doubt they will not trade Zacha for just picks this summer. They will have to be far out of a playoff spot next season for that to happen.

Well, then if I’m Dallas, I’m trading both Lyubushkin and Bourque to keep Robertson.

BUT…. The way this week is going, I’m not so sure anymore. Maybe there is a few more blockbuster trades coming. I hope so… it makes for great interaction on these boards.

Worse than what? Getting swept in the 1st round and having your captain traded in his prime?

I'd rather have a worse record, not make the playoffs, and get a higher draft pick than have that happen
Don let the inmates run the asylum last season.. Now they're picking 23 when they're trying to retool. He needs to be more cut throat about acquiring assets for guys who won't be here long.

The Atlantic is playing musical chairs in this arms race right now and I’m worried Don will be the one without a chair when the music stops.

I wonder if they’re gonna zig while everyone is zagging. Let everyone else beat the hell out of each other for a few years while you quietly build through the draft and come out on the other side with a young and exciting team.

Only question is, will Pasta and everyone else be here through a couple lean years?
Seems like the only option right now would be to run it back and quietly stack assets and young talent. I really hope Sweeney doesnt try to "be aggressive" by overpaying for the next David Backes. I don't see many moves out there for this team right now.

Florida has to trade a forward by my count here for the cap. Won't work out to put two goalies and 2 more players into 7M.

Gotta think it's one of Rodrigues, Lundell etc.

Knowing this I can't believe Ottawa didn't get a player back they can play now from Florida.

It won't be Lundell. They refused to trade him to Ottawa and he has obvious upside so it makes no sense to then move him subsequently. Rodrigues though would make a lot of sense. Capable player but not a core piece.

If that’s the plan then sell Pasta

Florida is a superior win now team now and teams like Montreal& Buffalo are much better nicely build for compete in the future category. They are stacked with proven u30 talent and talent not even in their primes

So if the plan is to stay put and be happy with a WC spot fight for the next 5 years sell Pasta now for king ransom
