Curious what the pulse is for all the Bruin fans “Florida pick will be top 10 for bruins”….???
I think it's far too early to make any meaningful projections two seasons from now. The reality is that many predictions made in September and October don't even survive until the end of the season. A lot can change in a very short period of time.

There's still a lot of value in holding that pick because we already own two other picks from teams in the same division. Even if Florida remains strong, the odds of either Toronto or Boston having a down year increase. You're essentially giving yourself multiple shots at benefiting from something going wrong within the division.

I think it would be more instructive for you to make it. You're the one trying to convince the board that all the statistical data on players over 30 is wrong.

I'm actually not even against re-signing Zacha, but I'm not going to pretend it's not risky, that signing any 30+ year old to a long-term contract isn't risky.
He isn't a 30+ player yet. He won't even turn 30 until April 2027.

My problem is that people are talking about him as if he's already 34, like Coyle. I can understand that argument when we're discussing someone like Arvidsson. I don't think it applies to Zacha.

By the time Zacha reaches 34, four seasons of a new contract will already have been played, and a lot will happen between now and then.

If the cap keeps growing the way it's projected to, an $8M cap hit may end up looking like the going rate for a mediocre bottom-six center.

Jason Dickinson was just extended for five years at $4M per season at age 30. He scored 17 points this year. His career high is 35 points 3 seasons ago.

Barkov, Reinhart, Bennett, Verhaeghe, Ekblad, and Mikkola are all 30. Jones is 31, Rodrigues is 32, Kulikov is 35, and Marchand is 38.

By the logic I keep hearing around here, that roster should be on the verge of collapse.
The team will go as Barkov's health will let them. He's the key piece of that team.

Panthers were going to be favorites for the next 2 years anyway. Adding Brady gives them even more insane depth. Panthers need health, but this has to factor into the Bruins plans. There no path to competing with the Panthers/Canes/Avs in the next 2-3 years. I think its fine to slow down the rebuild and if that means moving on from the Pasta/McAvoy core....it is what it is.

I wonder if Ottawa goes full rebuild and tries to move Chabot as well.

They would own the draft the next couple years lol

I say do a rebuild complete overhaul no need to fight the cats and waste time. We aren't getting out of the East for a few years until cats finish what they need to do.
Too early to tell. It's a good thing the season starts in September. There's plenty of offseason left.

I don't think bruins can compete with that lineup gotta hope someone knocks them out and bruins get a easy path if we make the playoffs that's a big if too with how powerful the east and the Atlantic Division is. Pasta is 30 now and he's the main guy hope bruins aren't wasting his prime year for winning a round or 2.
