No way of knowing that. At least as far as the end game.

Hell look at Florida and Toronto this year. No one saw that coming.

I'm not saying those picks won't be valuable in 2028, I'm pretty certain at least one of them will be a lottery pick, and 50/59 one ends up in the top 10.

What I am saying is that if you are making a deal on June 20th, 2026 the 23rd pick in the 26 draft is more valuable than a first round pick in 2028

Why not move Geekie -

Inconsistent AF - and when the goals went, his game was cheeks this past season
Signed to an agreeable contract
Bruins have more wings that fit his profile in the pipeline than ones that resemble Zacha

in the right deal anyone is available. If someone wants to make a ridiculous offer for Geekie, I'll consider it.

He may be inconsistent, but he has shown that when he is hot he can carry a team. And he is on one of the best contracts in the game

Not that it has to be one vs the other. But do you think Geekie carried the team last year more than Zacha did by centering Boston's best and most consistent line? Bc my vote is obviously for Zacha.

Have a feeling he’s going cost more than Haula though.

I like the thought, but I’m not giving up a boat load, he just didn’t look all that good in the handful of games I saw him play.

To be honest, I haven't taken the time to watch him specifically. I'm aware of him. Not going to pretend I'm familiar with the nuances of his game. #3 overall pick. Right there with Eklund, Berniers, Knies Blake, Stankoven etc. from his draft year in terms of scoring. Gets it done at ES. Good size... I guess. Though he has that Nick Ritchie fat face that concerns me...

Eric Haula was objectively a better player at the time. Devils fans, to this day... will tell you there are no regrets and it was exactly what they needed at the time. I guess it may be similar to Wheeler for Peverley... or something to that effect.

Not sure what the Ducks are looking for in return. I do wonder if they might have some interest in Zacha. Assuming there is a number that works long term. A 29 year old quality two-way veteran C/LW seems to be on their list of needs. Would be a risk for the Bruins to downgrade, but if there are additions elsewhere, it might be something to explore.

I'm not convinced acquiring McTavish is the best direction for the team. Ignoring the cost, some major concerns I have is

lack of improvement in his numbers, especially this year when the ducks basically played an all out offensive style

He's not a good skater, and given the team needs to get much quicker, he doesn't address that need at all

Maybe he's more fit that he looks, but 6 feet 220, concerns about his fitness.

Yeah.. and people here sometimes act as though going from 29 to 30 adds ten years instead of one. He should still be a very useful player for another three or four years at a minimum.

I also think he's the ideal player to bridge the gap until Hagens and Letourneau (or Poitras?) are ready. His versatility allows him to move to LW on virtually any line without creating a problem for the roster.

So very true and this guy below retired 15 years after turning 30

Tuch, Larkin?
Yeah, I think all of the big names are on the table; Andersson and Carlson at RD, Tuch and McMann at Forward, Larkin, McTavish, Tippett, Kyrou on the trade market... I'd like to see them go for Pettersson but I fear Sweeney may be too risk averse for that move.

They probably have scenarios for how they'd build the team for every player on that list (and twice as many we haven't heard of). I don't know if this is how it works, but I would imagine they make their offers for all of them, like having multiple lines in the water, and then they see who bites.
