Fair enough. I thought the trades were pretty balanced given the retention and the Bruins retained the picks later on while maximizing Zacha's value.

Tampering is just something a sour GM says when he loses out on a player.

NHL GM's have been talking to potential UFA's and RFA's for over a month now. These moves and countermoves are because they already know what's about to happen.

Wouldn't it make sense - if you wanted to deal Zacha which I don't want to - to wait for the draft

They prolly have had convos with teams like the Kraken or maybe the Rangers or Blues - why box yourself into the 11th pick right now when maybe the 7th pick is on the board (since people are turning Seattle down). Maybe they wanna see where the board is before they deal for a higher draft pick

It feels like we don’t have a chance at the big names this summer.

So I’d rather not add another bad contract for someone who’s likely not moving the needle all that much.
