Have to take a swing. Fills the biggest need. Opportunity like this doesn't come up often to fill your biggest need.
Thomas, Barzal now Larkin keep them coming!

Even Pettersson theres centers out there that could make the Bruins significantly better!

Would be surprised though, if Yzerman deals Larkin to an Atlantic Division rival.

Something like 1st, 2nd, one of Letourneau or Minten, and Lohrei? I'd imagine Letourneau or Minten would have to be in the deal which would hurt but who cares.

Larkin has a full NTC so he can choose his destination effectively. Really you have to convince him more than you are convincing Detroit.

Well, Cam said they need a #1 center. He's the prototype of what they're looking for. However, they need to clean house first and find a way to dump the Lindholm contract and then find the right package Detroit is looking for. I bet they want the Toronto 1st in the future as part of it.

Done.

He's also at a very affordable contract with 4-5 years left.

Would love Larkin here, but if not I can see him going to Columbus to play with best bud Werenski.

Maybe we can sell Yzerman on Lindholm regaining form playing with young countryman Raymond

It looks half decent, but then you have Elias Lindholm who you absolutely have to move if this is the case.

I wouldn't mind Lindholm as the third line center next year but I think his contract gets in the way of potential things the Bruins could do after a Larkin trade.

Geekie can be apart of the Larkin trade
I'm going to bet they want younger players if they're trading Larkin.

If we can get him comes down to if we can pitch him on coming to Boston well enough... I'd imagine it'd be hard to beat Minnesota's pitch though.

With all that said, I think Boston gets out maneuvered by Minnesota ( Wallstedt + ) or Anaheim ( McTavish + ), both who have young players Detroit would love to have. I think the only way the Bruins get him is if Hagens was part of the package.

I've always felt Larkin was a little overrated - he often gets star treatment in conversation but his output is a bit below that IMO. But put him with Pasta and it opens up a whole new tier for Larkin to jump to. I could see him being a PPG center here with Pasta on his line.

I just don’t see Yzerman dealing with a division foe unless he wants to be unemployed. 7 years the Wings GM and no playoffs, his clock is ticking!

Can’t see it and he’s going to want immediate value back imo as well.

Can't wait for there to be a headline "Rumors swirling around the Bruins and Red Wings"

1 day later

"The Boston Bruins have acquired Mason Appleton for a 3rd round pick"

I have 0 interest in Larkin.

I think he's a loser. People complain about Zacha doing nothing in the playoffs. This guy does the disappearing act before even getting to the playoffs.

But anyone talking about price. He has a NTC

Personally I'd rather gamble on Petterson for nearly free

He's played 5 playoff games...

Larkin is gonna bankrupt you get outta of there.
Not so sure about that. The guy has only broken 70 points twice and never broke 80. Edit: actually broke 70 3 times.

He is 29 and his contract brings him to age 34. He’s been the leader of a team that has the talent to be a playoff team but can’t get there. His biggest asset is his speed and that goes first as guys hit 30.

He’s a great player that could really help the Bruins, I just don’t think he has sky high trade value given the above. Yzerman loves drafting and developing, maybe a couple firsts and a good prospect gets it done.
