friedman says "about an hour after mark spector and I reported on nurse last week I got a call from an exec who was furious"

this was the first mention of helle from friedman so it makes zero sense for the jets to tell him to zip his lips lol
What does the Oilers and Nurse have to do with helle? I don't get the connection.

Frank S, so as always, consider the source. Would be interesting though if true and the Flames are very high on Verhoeff.

Starts to sort of narrow down the few names of the most coveted prospects likely there at #8. Just have a gut feeling it will come down to Rudolph/Bjorck and one likely going right in front of them to Seattle.

If that is the case it starts to open up the possibility of Carels dropping to #8. That would seem too good to be true.

That would obviously be a great situation for the Jets.

Personally, I still feel like the Rangers will take Carels at #5. And if not, I would be shocked if he got past the Flames at #6.

I have been in the mindset for a while the Jets will have two of Bjorck, Rudolph, and Smits available to choose from based on how I think it shakes out.

That’s my guess as well, but there still is a lot of differing lists out there so it could drop a few ways to # 8.

Team lists are often much different than consensus. For all we know the Sharks have Malhotra at 2 and Vancouver has Smits higher than Stenberg. Things could get crazy in this draft as early as pick 2.

My read on the Elliotte Friedman comments about Hellebuyck is that the only part pertaining to him was the "a lot of noise" comment. Everything else was about Darnell Nurse, Babcock, and Larkin.
I agree but now the question is if the "a lot of noise" is from him talking to people around the league or just from those spittin chiclets and pagnotta, I think the lots of noise is the latter because he started off by saying "no real news" and if execs were talking about it I think he would have made a bigger deal

I think if Helle is moved, 2026 draft picks will be involved, so we likely will know by the start of the draft, or sooner, if Helle is being moved. There should be some player movement before the draft. Just another 10 days.

Buckle up boys and girls.

You bet. That's sort of my gut feeling of expectation, but I am ready to be shocked. Hopefully with a prospect falling right into the Jets' lap.

There always seems to be a surprise in the first part of any draft. Guys are picked sooner or later than the consensus suggests.

Just takes one top 7 team to like Smits or Rudolph or Bjorck or Belchetz for the consensus draft order to be shuffled a fair bit. Have two of those guys going in the top 7 and then there just might be an interesting 'faller' drop to the Jets at #8.

NY Rangers are the real wildcard. They are not rebuilding. Probably rather have a marquee player than the pick.

Best case scenario is Bjorck goes #5, Verhoeff #6, Rudolph #7 and Carels falls to the Jets.

A Message from Chris Drury to Our Fans

This will not be a rebuild. This will be a retool built around our core players and prospects. We will target players that bring tenacity, skill, speed, and a winning pedigree with a focus on obtaining young players, draft picks, and cap space to allow us flexibility moving forward.

I don't think they'd rather move the pick than make the pick. They won't move it in some package for a win now player, they're too far away from that and their management appears to know it.

Shows what I know, should never doubt the Rangers willingness to win for a few of years and bottom out for a couple more.

The importance of scouts……and maybe a bit of luck.

Something that always puzzles me with some of these undrafted players is why some team doesn't risk a 6th or 7th rd pick on guys who have a grat D+1, or D+2 season after being passed over the first time. There may have been good reason for passing over them the first time. But c'mon, 6ths and 7ths are almost worthless.
