On defense, Tommy Bleyl is ranked 34th and he is also all over the scout's polls for his strong skating, puck moving and skill.

Can't shake the idea that the Bruins might see Bleyl as a bigger Torey Krug.

I wouldn't be upset if he was their pick.

he's listed at 6'0, if he can fill out 20lbs over the next 2-3 years and eventually get to 200ish by 22-23 i don't see any issue size wise. The big question is can he keep his skating ability with the extra mass?

I would hope that they wouldn't write off players based on measurements.

I could see saying something like, "Well, if two players are close, we'd prefer to pick the bigger kid." That's fine.

What's not OK is "We're taking the bigger player over the better player just because we like bigger kids."

Besides, Bleyl is like 6-0, 170. There's no reason in 2-3 years he can't be closer to 6-0, 185, which is Cale Makar's listed height/weight. He seems to do OK. And it's bigger than Lane Hutson, who is also handling the NHL just fine, thank you very much.

He is skinny but 6’ tall I believe. Muscle can always be added. I certainly didn’t have any muscle mass at 18

would be amazing if hemming slid to 23, but hard to imagine that combo of size, angry and hands is passed up by a handful of teams in that 14-22 range. gustafsson i'd say there is 0 chance. he's rising
very quickly, looking like the 9-14 range likely.

Who do you trust has the most accurate rankings? Accurate as in, they're the outlet that consistently ends up being the closest to the order in which players got drafted.

I see Cullen ranked as high as 6th and as low as 36th, with 6 different outlets ranking him in the 20's. Elite Prospects has him at 6th and the EP Consolidated Ranking has him at 27.

some folks don't agree, but i'd be pretty surprised if cullen was around by pick 15. his combination of talent and bloodlines and late growth spurt (sounds like he may get even bigger than 6'1") has a ton
of teams looking at him in that 9-14 range.


@DKH i saw you like piiparinen. he's fine - kind of a nice middle pair dude that will play. i'd personally try to go with the bigger upside guys there (bleyl or some of the forwards like hurlbert, klepov, etc). some think the bruins are very interested in adam goljer. i personally like gudmundsson in round 2 if you're looking at middle pair RD.

Bleyl has so much helium. I can't see him available at 23. If he and Command were there at 23, I'd consider getting 24 as well...

McAvoy and Chychurn went 14&16 in that draft. Olli Juolevi was the first dman picked Jake Bean went right before McAvoy, hell Tage Thompson went 26 one pick after Riley Tufte.

This is why you don’t see many trades in the first round when your drafting 17-18 year olds it becomes so hard to project one’s future and their development growth physically and mentally at such a young age, it becomes a real crapshoot.
