Boston Bruins 2026 NHL Draft Part 2

It's a stereotypical joke. There are no negative connotations to Don Cherry's statement.

In 2026, it is not acceptable. The world is moving forwards, albeit glacially. Don Cherry brought a lot to hockey, and it's ugly how it ended. Both things can be true at the same time. I appreciate a lot of what he did, but some of the things that came out of his mouth went way too far.

Not racist but definitely xenophobic.

I will always love Don Cherry. Forever. I learned more about the sport and found my true love of it in no small part due to him. Like Roger Ebert and film for me.

The guy is a xenophobe true blue. Which is an aspect of him that I will never either refute or respect.
When Cherry made the joke it was a generalization based on the playing style of the earliest Swedish forwards playing in the NHL. They played a different style. When they started adapting to NHL play, Cheery changed his tune. He loved Mats Sundin & Peter Forsberg.

Now the Russians, that was different. They were the enemy to Gapes.

He didn't say it in 2026.

They love their language apparently.

I didn't understand the codris line, googled it and found nothing but a French firm that makes cognitive driving software. Strange to celebrate a company from a foreign nation in your national anthem.

A deeper dive solved the mystery.

The translation should have been codrii, not codris. Codrii meaning forests, not the French company and then it all made sense.

My choice has been made
If Hemming doesn't slip I want Malte Gustafsson

Also of note, Ilia Morozov is still only 17 and has the best lettuce in the draft

I think Hemming is more likely to slip between the 2. I wouldn't even be surprised if Gustafsson goes top 10.

Glad to hear Morozov is seeing Dr. Matthew Lopresti though.

An enemy of the Habs is a friend of mine.

It's why I really wanted (still do) Shane Wright to be a stud. I don't know if he was staring down that Montreal table but I hope he was. f*** em.

Zadina saying he'd fill MTL's net with pucks was great too except he sucked.
Came here expecting some juicy rumors regarding who the Bruins might pick with the 23rd pick only to find this. Don't remind me, I still have Zadina as the profile picture. Really thought he would be a Kucherov lite in the NHL. :help:

For real though, who are the most likely players to be selected by the Bruins in the 1st round? I see the massive defenseman Sokolovski rose a lot in the past couple months and it makes me nervous Bruins might go that was way, yuck.

Still a month to go, but he's 57th on the consolidated ranking. If the Bruins pick a late 2nd rounder with #23, it'll be mass psychosis in here.

For myself, I'm kind of hoping Hemming continues dropping in the lists. Getting him at #23 would be awesome and he'd kick the asses of the shrimpy little Habs core guys forever and ever.

Seems like any updated mock I go to Hemming drops a slot or two. I can’t see him getting to 23 but crazier things have happened

Either he or Morozov makes it to the Bruins at #23 in every mock simulation I've run, using multiple rankings, from consensus to Wheeler, Button, EliteProspects, whoever. Two monster athletes, especially that late.

This, of course, means they'll both be gone by the early teens, but a man can dream.

edit: Scouching has a simulator that you can input ranking lists. Cool feature, though I'm not sold on the black box those lists get fed into.

Sokolovski and Rogowski are the 2 meathead "BIG SIZE UNGA BUNGA" picks in the 1st round. I don't get too high or low on drafts the day of but my optimism would be rather low if we used our 1st on one of those guys.

Most people here are hoping for guys that emphasize speed and skill from what I gathered.

These interviews are typically nothing-burgers but could his mentioning of speed & skill (again) give a hint at which players they may (or may not) be targeting at #23?

According the EP scout's poll, the best combination of speed and skill, that might still be there at 23 could be Wyatt Cullen. He's super shifty and all over their top5 rankings for best offensive forward, best hands, best transition, highest ceiling... Cullen is 27th on the Consolidated Ranking.

On defense, Tommy Bleyl is ranked 34th and he is also all over the scout's polls for his strong skating, puck moving and skill.

Cullen is going to be long gone before us. Like way gone. I can’t believe Florida could end up with him or Bjorck

Who do you trust has the most accurate rankings? Accurate as in, they're the outlet that consistently ends up being the closest to the order in which players got drafted.

I see Cullen ranked as high as 6th and as low as 36th, with 6 different outlets ranking him in the 20's. Elite Prospects has him at 6th and the EP Consolidated Ranking has him at 27.

It’s a timing thing - the consolidated stuff includes some dated rankings.

Wheeler has him at 12.

Athletic mock from this week had him to the Panthers at 9. I’m not sure he gets by them.
