That’s our likely opponent. S. Korea. If we win the group we play a 3rd place team, not sure who it would be, and if we somehow end up 3rd, unlikely, we most likely play the u.s.

No, 1B plays 3EFGIJ. It's too early to speculate.
Currently, that's one of Ecuador, Netherlands, Belgium, Senegal or Jordan. But, those groups have only played one game.

We only meet Korea if we finish 2nd & they finish 2nd. 2A & 2B meet.

Mexico is 1st team through to next round with the win. They play 3CEFHI.

If by some sick twist of fate we finish 3rd, we'd face Germany or Côte d'Ivoire.

The chance of us finishing third is highly unlikely. We're at +6 and Bosnia is -3, so not only would they have to demolish Qatar (possible) but we'd also have to get demolished by Switzerland. And I'm talking demolish here. We're talking about a 10 goal differential between the two games. So even if Qatar wins 5-0, we'd also have to lose 5-0 to Switzerland. Even if we were to lose 6-1 I don't think it'd be enough due to Goals For. Then it might come down to yellow/red cards.

Yeah, I know, but it's not impossible. Bosnia would have to win 6-0 against Qatar, and Canada would have to lose like 5-0 against Switzerland.

That's why I called the situation "a sick twist of fate."

Oh, okay, for some reason I thought we played u.s. if we came 3rd. I’m assuming we lose to Switzerland and Korea beats South Africa. I’m just using rankings, but we only need to tie, so I guess that’s in our favour.

Thanks for clarifying

Yes, Switzerland needs to beat us to finish 1st, which they certainly are capable of doing. We just need a draw.

Mexico is already through as the #1 team, so the likelihood we meet Korea is high, but it'll be as 2 vs 2. We don't play them if we're #1.

Our own Alistair was a key player yesterday. He was seeing the plays develop yesterday. I always liked him.

One of the biggest differences in Game 1 vs Game 2 was that he was playing much higher up the field yesterday. Don't know if it's because he was on a yellow for most of Game 1 or if it was a tactical decision but the right side was markedly different and better.

How bad is Davies injury ? Any chance that he gets back next game ? Or back in the elimination match ?

Speculation is that bayern Munich has taken control of Davies situation, and I wouldn't blame them because canada used him questionably in a 3rd place game where he tore his ACL.

It sounds like he could be back for knockouts though. But then the question becomes if he can be effective at all. He certainly isnt match fit.

This world cup window unfortunately hit at a terrible time for canada in terms of injuries and key players not being match fit..... then you add kone to that. Canada does not have any other box to box guy that they can seamlessly fit into the lineup.
