I think it's the added pressure to win now from the increase in trade demands. I actually think the top of this draft is quite good between the top 2 forwards and the next group of 4 or 5 D.

I think it's more a product of a really weak UFA crop. Teams would prefer to give up picks for good players in their 20s rather than fork over disgusting contracts to third liners in their 30s.

As far as I'm aware, this is supposed to be a pretty solid draft.
