Hoping George and Slukynsky steal their respective nation's starting roles, but then Slukynsky and Team USA prevail over George and Team Canada 1-0 and 1-0 (in OT) in group play and the semifinals/finals respectively.

From what i've read, George may have won the starting Canadian job in today's game.
For the USA, I can't find anything stating who is starting. They played two pre-tourney warm up games. Slut got the start in the first game stopping all 13 shots he faced (1st & 2nd period, then other guy in the 3rd -- gave up 2 goals on 12 shots). In the second warm up game, it was the other way around (Slut came on in the 3rd). Each gave up one goal.

Barring something unforeseen, Augustine will be the primary starter for the US.

I believe Augustine has been the starter the past couple of years, so he should get the majority starts.

Those first two are indefensible as far as goaliesletting it in. Third one may be the most forgiveable considering it was a rebound in traffic, but yikes.

Yeah I don't want to sound like I'm hating because Hammer is behind him but US needs more from Augustine. Hopefully that's out of his system.

I am so stoked by the Kings goalie pipeline - can't believe how far they've come from just a few years ago.
Solid game from Carter George with the shutout against the fins.
Goaltending has been problematic for Canada for a long time, and he seems to be solid thus far.

Wasn't one of those fluff WJC shutouts either, especially as Finland started pressing there at the end
so damn smooth and efficient, yet aggressive/assertive in his decisions, which always seem to be right (great reads). nice combo. If anything, issue with rebound control/tracking in this game, but not a big deal. Really liked the nonsave/read maybe a few sequences in where the finland player is looking to make a pass across the crease...he didn't overreact. The pass got broken up by the defender and other goalies may have gone sailing past it too aggressively but he just calmly made his move and stayed in full control in front of it. great use of depth without backing in too far--Kind of lundqvist-esque on that, he loved to play deep to make the cross crease move short, as opposed ot quick who was practically at the top of the crease exploding across--especially at his size.

The best King trade in Blake’s tenure…orchestrated 100% by Mark Yannetti. Selling the deal to Blake for trading #21 to Mtl for #26, #57 and #198.

Slykynsky was just there for grabs in the 4th round, despite having excellent numbers. Though weak competition. I immediately thought (read; hoped) that was a good pick. I also believe he was listed at 6’0” at that moment.
George did have some pedigree but plays for a very bad OHL team.
