I don't take WJC scoring seriously, except against good teams, though this year it might be more meaningful b/c fewer patsies where you can pad your stats (is it me or have the weaker teams become more disciplined defensively?).

But it's fun to point out Zeev going MIA to some people around here who are adamant the Flyers missed out on the 6th D-man taken in the 2025 draft.

While we're on the topic of half serious claims, I have stopped taking WJC production/appearances as serious as I did years ago when both the Canadians and Americans both doubled down on intangible bros and "fits" versus taking some mix of the top 30 players and letting the talent sort it itself out over a short tournament.

My methodology when it comes to all international tournaments is as follows:

1) If a player you liked before has a bad sample, throw the sample out

2) If a player you didn’t like before has a good sample, put it on top of the trash


You’ll get burned like Freddy Krueger if you try to take it seriously, let alone base your entire evaluation on it.
