Only 2 games today:

1 PM: Kazakhstan vs Czechia

3:30 PM: Latvia vs USA.

That's a very quick turn around by Latvia after such an emotional game against Canada. It's less than 18 hours, so I expect USA to cave the tired group in.

Nice guy Dave Cameron made some strange choices.

Yeah, I don't understand many of his decisions or his system. Example: When Canada is in the offensive zone he has the two d-men on the blue line with a forward. Why do you need three players on the offensive blueline? Meanwhile they missed a ton of rebounds because a forward is not near the net or the slot but at the blue line. That's just one example.

Well, well, well.

Next time, don’t overthink the selections.

And never, ever, underestimate a Latvian goaltender.

Both lessons should have been learned already.
arturs Irbe taught them well!! lol

So team Canada doesn't want Misa (top scorer in the CHL) currently #1oa prospect? makes the selection process look like a joke.

Great touch by Duthie.

The Bonk one is really strange. He had Schaefer there in pre-tournament games then went to Bonk once tournament started.

Dickinson has 46 pts in only 26 games in OHL. Bonk has 21 pts. Lol Dickinson has more assists than Bonk has pts (31 to 21). This is just sheer over-thinking it. Play the best players. Dickinson is the #1 D on London.

Too bad for the kid. I really hope his season isn't ended.

Broken collar bone for Schaefer. Bad news for him.

Sawyer Minio is being activated off the reserve list & BobbyMac thinks Rehkopf will be, too. That gives Canada the maximum 25 man roster. No more adds unless there is another injury.

They registered everyone they brought over. The entire team is now eligible to play.

Doesn't solve the problem of a horrible team selection.

What does this team look like with Hage, Sennecke, and Misa? Athleticism often dominates these tournaments and size/skill/mobility up the middle is a proven strategy at every level. Being team Canada and having Bonk run your PP is both a roster construction and coaching failure that’s hard to justify. Went with role players but didn’t bother filling the most critical roles on a team with the best players available.

Feels like TC management were operating like NHL GMs identifying undervalued role players rather than having the opportunity to handpick elite talent to create whatever roster they’d like.

Here’s to hoping they have a big bounce back.

They also had a very serious lack of discipline that cost them the game.
Latvia should not score against this Canadian team.
It will get addressed. It's game 2 of the tournament. The postmortems so many people are writing up are way too premature and it's shocking how often this happens.

Gotta increase free space for Cowan to dangle on the outside :sarcasm:
