it's also unfair to those who are on the team not to take advantage of more fire power. It's like sitting on a lottery ticket and not cashing in.. insane.
Just weird decisions across the board. I'm usually careful to be overly confident criticizing decisions (or non-decisions) that NHL GMs make as we don't have the info to know who was/wasn't available, how players are valued, timing, etc. when making deals. That's not the case here. This team has the pick of the litter, years of data on short tournaments, and no restrictions around team construction. They can fill any role with the best available players. They can build whatever identity they'd like.
Leaving significant talent on the table, not filling key roles, AND not shaping the team based on a cohesive identity? Not fast, not big, not physical, not defensively elite, not all-out offence, not much of anything. Definitely good enough to still be competitive, but TC needs to start making more optimal choices if they want to continue to dominate this tournament moving forward.
