I still think they need to split pools as it is a nightmare to get out of pool B. I speak from experience.

Emerance Maschmeyer out, Ann-Renée Desbiens uncertain. Canada will be without their Top 2 goalies. Kristen Campbell and Corinne Schroeder are the very likely candidates picking up the workload while, according to her headcoach, UMD Bulldogs' Ève Gascon will be there in Czechia.

Canada's roster

ARD on it so there is hope her injury is not that serious. Miller has appealed to the IIHF to get her switch to China reversed and, according to head coach Troy Ryan, there is a good chance it will happen. But nothing official so far. Meanwhile, Primerano becomes the first 18 year-old to make the final team since a certain Marie-Philip Poulin.

A few more rosters have been released today.

First, we got Finland's

Veteran and all-time WW career GP leader Jenni Hiirikoski will have to wait to play her 17th Worlds. This season, she has been plagued with injuries, notably missing the SDHL finals recently. This is the first time she will miss the Women's Worlds since first playing it in 2004. She was expected to hit a GP century this year.

Then came Germany's

And finally Japan's

Japan has announced the smallest roster with 23 players making the trip to Czechia. Injured since November, top forward Haruka Toko won't be there.

Will checking be allowed soon in women's hockey? US, Canada, International games?

Sweden have allowed checking. Norway allowed checking today.

The PWHL in North America allows checking. And considering the league's popularity, girls are/will be asking to be taught properly and inevitably college hockey will follow.

With the Olympics next year, I don't think the IIHF will change its rulebook yet but the next cycle would be perfect for it. The more nations follow Sweden and Norway's lead, the quicker it will happen. I assume it will be gradual starting from the Top Division and Division 1A.

In parallel of the Worlds, the EHC is running a seminar on Pro WoHo. Hopefully the mingling will help the process along.

Pre tournament games have begun.

Hungary and Japan met up today at the Hokejové centrum Pouzar in České Budějovice with the Magyars picking up a 4-2 win. Petra Polónyi, Tamara Gondos, Lotti Odnoga and Alexandra Huszák scored for Hungary while Kanami Seki and Rui Ukita answered back for Japan.

While MacLeod and the PWs are still on club duties, the Czech Euro-based and NCAA players are running a pre camp under AC Dušan Andrašovský. This included 2 games this weekend with Slavia Praha [men's] U17s, losing the first one 3-1. No details about the second.

Next games are scheduled for Thursday with Germany hosting Switzerland in Füssen and Norway playing D1A's Slovakia in Bruck an der Leitha, Austria.
