This has to be the first time Canada has ever had a losing record at the event right?

Darn, missed the game. Naturally some not at all irrational comments on Twitter, already spotted one person complaining that they left Cayden Lindstrom (among others) at home.....apparently they are unaware Lindstrom hadn't played all season due to injury.

I saw a clip of the Chiclets guys complaining they left off Lindstrom and Iginla. Welp not like anyone says those guys are smart lol

I just wanted to hop on here to say "Holy F**k Czechia".
I still can't believe they won that game the way the third period was going. Everyone on Czechia except the goalie looked rattled. They couldn't even catch tape to tape passes most of the third period, but they beared down on that last powerplay.

Canada’s roster construction was always suspect this year. Leaving out guys like Yakemchuk, Parekh, Cristall, Sennecke, Hage and Misa were all major head scratchers. Guys like that would’ve helped. It’s a 2 week tournament, load up with as much skill as possible and go from there. Feels like Canada tried to balance out the lines/team like a full season team, with some older energy/grinder type players in the bottom half of the lineup. Questionnable move imo. They’ve done stuff like that for a few years now, and it’s failed the last 2 years pretty heavily. Maybe this will cause a change of philosophy.

I have no doubt that with the guys mentioned above, Canada would’ve been in the gold medal game, most likely against the US.

I was surprised that Yakemchuk and Parekh didn't get winter camp invites (Parekh and Sennecke both got invites eventually due to injuries). But I could understand if they weren't impressed by Yakemchuk's play this season. I caught one random Calgary game being streamed for free a couple months back and he looked like the guy going through motions who went -5 against us in the prospect camp rather than the guy who impressed in preseason and almost got a cup of coffee in Ottawa. Sounded like Yakemchuk and Parekh struggled in the summer camp. The Matthew Schaefer injury didn't help since they had him penciled in to get PP time.

Not sure if they thought Cristall would be redundant once Nadeau got the green light to join the team.

Naturally some would question having Luca Pinelli who plays for Dave Cameron in the OHL, but I thought Pinelli was okay. It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall for the roster meetings. Not sure if it's just the tin foil hat crowd, but I remember reading about there being political pressures to include QMJHL players. But I might also be conflating that with Sam Montembeault making their Four Nations Faceoff roster as the lone Quebec born player on the roster.

They said on the broadcast that was the first time in the history of the tournament that Canada had ever been knocked out 2 years in a row in the quarterfinals.

I didn't care who won but thought the refs were terrible. That kneeing 5 min major was a joke with the Sikora on the Czechs absolutely faking the injury, he even looked up to see if the refs were looking at him. Pretty embarrassing call.

USA vs Czechs should be a close game. I won't be surprised by either team winning.

Q vs Finland is always a fun game too.

Traff took an unfortunate holding penalty vs Finland and took a 2-1 lead with a PP goal.

I’m guessing he won’t see much ice after that.

Edit: All is forgiven! Back net front for a PP when they tie it.
