Yea ok. I was a Hage guy in that draft with our second pick. And everyone knows I was the biggest Dickinson fan and hoped he slipped to us (have long said he will be the best defenseman in that draft). I did like Eiserman though because you can't teach goal scoring but the attitude concerns were well documented.

Yea the median outcome for Moore is a speedy 4th liner based off what im seeing at the world juniors. Got a bit of Ludwinski to his game imo
Just doesn't make plays. He bobbles the puck a lot. I dont think he thinks the game at the level of his peers right now and it's become very noticeable. He cant find any room to carry the puck with speed so his speed doesn't help him generate offense.

Here's the thing with prospects. Unless you're watching a dozen or so games, several of those being live(TV only tells half the story) it's legitimately not even worth having an opinion on them... That's how difficult it is to judge a hockey player's game, even for an experienced hockey person.
That's why I find prospect evaluations on this forum so ridiculous.

This tourney is my first time watching C Hutson play, and yea what a stud.
I know theyre brothers but the way hegenerates offence is absolutely uncanny to his brother, it's insane. I feel he's not quite as agile as Quinn but processes the game a little more efficiently.

IMO it's more than fair to say I don't like ABC but do like XYZ about a prospect based on specific play the same as criticizing an NHL'er, but absolute pronouncements of success/fail are often ridiculous.
With Moore: if you don’t like him, fine that’s fair. But who the hell do you take instead of him? I think everyone’s go to answer would be Perreault, but he’s REALLY struggled. Especially in the Finland/Canada games where the pace and intensity turned up. This is not a perfect science. You’ve got guys like Moore with upside concerns. You’ve got guys like Perreault and Musty with projectability concerns. I watch a lot of hockey outside the NHL and I love discussing these kids but the reality is we just don’t know

Moore has upside and projectabilty concerns. Just cause he's fast doesn't mean his floor is high, there's speedy guys who can't crack the NHL everywhere.
His speed is basically a non-factor at the World Juniors. Tiny sample size but when that's your calling card I just have a hard time seeing that speed terrorizing the NHL to any extent. He doesnt have any other tools to weaponize it
I get your point. No one picked around 20 is going to be a flawless prospect. Id just prefer the guys with higher ceilings.

I agree that we don’t know. Perreault has really struggled this tournament but atleast he’s produced high end at NCAA.

For me it would have been Bonk. Size/skill/rankings/and position scarcity being the reasons.
We knew that was going to happen though. He hasn’t done anything to quell the concerns about his game and realistically he won’t have the opportunity to until pro hockey

Yeah said the same. The concerns about pace and style won’t be answered until he does it. But if you don’t show puck game in college you definitely aren’t in the pros. Kinda where I’m at.

I have conflicting feelings about the Hutson brothers.
Yes, they are small. If the Hawks had drafted either of them, I don't know that I'd feel quite as confident about the team's future D core as I do with having a D made up entirely of guys with size. Love size on the backend.
However, for where each of them was drafted, they were/are great value picks. It arguably would've been better if we had one of them and traded a guy like KK for young forward help.
Regarding Perrault, it's whatever. He has had his struggles in these games, just like Moore. And I think organizations generally steer clear of taking an employees kid with a high, or relatively high, pick. Can create weird dynamics.
And someone mentioned Hage here. Maybe doesn't fit organizational need as much as Boisvert, but he's trending better than SB is. The better prospect is still Hage, but I've excepted the fact we went in a different direction. I'm just not a fan of it.

Only time will tell. With Moore I feel like it’s there and you’re just begging for him to figure it out and put it all together. Whether or not he does is a fair question.
It’s also not like he hasn’t scored at all in college. There’s certainly been NHL players who were at less than 0.85 points per game in college
