Laporta and the board inherited a shitshow after Bartomeu (and Covid) and the league’s financial constraints are too stringent, but there is no excusing the Olmo situation. And to be clear and fair, Laporta and the team have cleaned up the financial situation to some degree. Still they’ve signed too many players on too big of wages and haven’t cleared out the dead wood. The club needs to figure out a budget that will work within La Liga’s fair play setup and then Deco and Flick need to make hard decisions as to who stays and who goes. Then get rid of the players who need to go. Fati and Garcia would be a great place to start.
Also, while I can forgive Laporta and the board for encountering a situation like this within the first 6-12 months of taking over the club considering the situation at the time, we’re now well past that point. You should have the management team in place that can manage the big picture such that situations like this are avoided.
With regards to Olmo, if we can’t sort out a way to register him (and if we do it’d be an exception as I understand it), loan him out assuming he’s willing to stay (which it sounds like he is).

Haven’t they more or less sold anything not nailed down as far as tv rights and media? That looked a bit like financial shenanigans.
They likely should have taken their lumps in the wilderness a bit and gotten the deadwood out. Or sold a one or two top youngsters to balance books.

Indeed Laporta's stupidity is not inheriting an awful situation but rather making the same mistakes to some degree : signing tons of players with huge salaries and half of them weren't even needed.
Barca needed a financial reset with just a couple of signing and using the kids. They might not have won the title two years ago but other than that they'd be in a much better situation now and in the future instead of selling just about everything.

Salaries are much smaller.
I do agree with the general point though, most of the signings were not needed, and those that cost money (like Ferran Torres or Olmo) even worse
33M for a 32+ yo striker ?
Torres and Depay at 10, Raphinha at 12.5, Inigo, Christiansen, Kessie and Olmo at more than 9, Garcia and Alonso at more than 6M, etc...
A few of them are successes but overall the salaries are still too high, especially for some backups.

Europe is vague though. Brazilian serie A is better than many European leagues and next to his home.

When Lewa came he was a superstar, that salary should not be surprising.
As for the others, some are higher because they came as free, but especially if you compare with previous ownership they are quite less than the contracts that were being hand out. Salary wage was reduced a lot. I agree De Jong and Lewa are still too high but that's only one of many, many problems happening

He can play in the top 5 leagues. He earn more and have a shot at the NT later on. He might still move but this isn’t the best way to do it.

- Fofana injury worse than had been announced
- neither, they just like how he’s come along and think he’s ready to do a job
I expect he’ll start next weekend in the FA Cup, pretty perfect fixture to begin integrating a new kid.
Only other potential recall this January is Andrey Santos, I think. I don’t expect that to occur.
EDIT: turns out Fofana’s injury is indeed far worse than announced, he tore his hamstring in the fluke incident against Villa.

That’s not what he said. He’s said he’s in the last year of his deal, which is accurate. This is the same thing he’s been saying all season, and the same thing he will say until the extension is done. Now he certainly may not extend, but he’s not saying he’s leaving. He’s saying he is scheduled to leave
