Can’t imagine a Dallas area hockey fan unrelated to a player participating electing to go watch children’s hockey directly up against the Avalanche-Stars Game 3.

Hopefully better for the other games and medal rounds.
 
Wow, the Swiss were bad.

Did I love giving up 26 shots to a team that bad? No, but I think we know this isn't a dominant team.

Potter with only 1 point through 2 games seems unjust, but that's the theme with him where it always looks better and more flashy than the points he produces, even though I think he's probably the best draft prospect on this team.
 
Mooney looked unreal in that game. Maybe my gophs aren't as screwed next year as I thought they would be... lol. Seriously, he looks extremely dynamic.

This group is simply one of the least talked about USNDP squads I can recall in memory. Not sure if any of them go first round. Nice to see a few of the outside additions added to this team, Reid not being here is pretty shocking. Potter seems to be the standout player on offense and Fiddler on defense. Hoping Mooney and Mckinney finish strong to help their draft stock...
 
In reality this is a much better age group than they are given credit for. People are just disappointed that many players haven't progressed as expected. NTDP must of course take responsibility for the failure, but for some, there was simply too much early hype, as is often the case.

Yeah, I thought that game went very well. The defense has held up well enough. I was lamenting them after the early goals, but they did alright as the game went on and Quinlan saved their bacon a number of times.

The third line has been excellent. I suspect Mooney and Kvasnicka are helping their draft stock. The fourth line continues to give us nothing. No clue why they’ve picked these guys over Belle, O’Neill, and Nelson. Casey Mutryn did not need to be picked. USAH likes him too much. He’s not good enough for this team. He’s good for a U17, but not good enough for U18. Lansing has been worthless. I was alright with Teddy Mutryn and he’s been the best of that bad line. He needs more effective linemates. He’s not going to drive things. Kevan needs to play more.

Huge win over the gold medal favorite. Winning the group is big, it will keep the team well positioned in the knockouts.
 
I think the entire CHL has gone downhill in terms of quality in recent years. I'm not saying Reid shouldn't have been on this team, but I think he's a little overrated, especially here.

Now that more experienced CHL players are allowed to jump to the NCAA, it is possible that the level will drop even more. On the other hand, this change may bring more players into the league who previously would have gone straight to the NCAA. Let's see how the situation develops.

We just had to win this game. The team has shown that they are ready for big games. Now we just need to get Latvia out of the way and then we'll see how far they can go.
 
The defense of this team is not good.

I’ve felt Schock has been decent. Barnett has been okay. Fiddler has been okay, but you expected better than okay for a first round pick. The other three haven’t been good. Trethewey has been very disappointing.

I don’t feel like the offense has been clicking either. McKinney and Murtagh can play a lot better than they have so far.

Quinlan has been pretty good. I know his stats are meh, but our defense is bad, and it feels like most of the goals are hard to stop.

Germany is pretty decent, but they shouldn’t be playing us so close. That was a very poorly played game.

Yea - Outside Schaefer lot of scouts think the defensemen prospects fall off a cliff for the draft . It will be interesting because Trethaway and Phillips are looking like a huge stretch for the second round .
 
While it's easy to point out the flaws and discuss, as we have, how they are not as good as prior years, all of that is what it is right now. At the end of the day, they went undefeated with all regulation wins in group play, and that's all you can ask for. They have an opportunity in front of them to re-write the legacy of this particular team. They cannot take Latvia for granted, so hopefully come out playing their best game and take it from there.

Glad to see Dave Reid blast the US during the 2nd period intermission. Undisciplined dumb penalties and it let Latvia back in the game.

Good start to the 3rd and got the win. Sweden will be much better Friday than the regulation round.

What was the final score?
 
Swedes are the favourites. Sweden is not as big favourite against us than we were few years ago when they beat us in the final but I want payback from that.
