Golf: 2025 US Open - Scottie's World Edition

Seems like it’s just another week where everyone has to grind at Oakmont. Only a few guys under par, and that’s ok. We don’t need every major where you’re playing at -9 to be in it. It’s good to have variety in scoring as long as it’s not unfair.

I’m not a huge fan of Brooks by any means, but hoping he makes a run to create some tension. He is really the quintessential US Open golfer

Here's why only rooting for the favorites makes no sense. Every great golfer including Jack & Tiger had won zero majors at one time. By only rooting for the favorites, you're rooting against future great champions such as them.

Burns gets aggressive off the tee. That mindset is where the course punishes you.

#2 is such a good and hard hole despite being short. Laying back in the fairway is no guarantee of a par. You can easily spin a wedge off the green. I've seen a few players do it today and make 5.

I understand why he wanted to get it as close to the green but in that situation with the wind and weather picking up, really needed to take the bunker out of play. Guys were carrying it easily earlier in the day before the wind picke dup.

Spaun is playing best by a mile but he'd underachieved for sure given he's hit all fairways but one so far. Does not look like he'l birdie 12, nor will Viktor/Burns/Scott

Incredibly, Burns is second to last in strokes gained off the tee today. Not exactly the kind of round that screams 'leading at Oakmont'. Not sold that he's got what it takes tomorrow.

I’m fully aboard the Adam Scott train

Joins co-lead with a sandy birdie on 17. Playing partner Hovland gets to-2 with a birdie as well.

For me, Scott will forever be grouped in with Rose/Garcia/Stenson. All from the same generation, all pure flushers, all peaked as at least #2 in the OWGR, all probably had skill levels that deserved a second major title.

They're expecting rain overnight and into the morning, so the course will play soft to start, and then dry out by the end of the day. That could mean someone posting a low number early, but all the big dogs are probably too far back for it to matter. It's always possible that the leaders might gag, though, since Spaun and Burns have never even sniffed contention at a major, and Scott hasn't been a serious threat in a decade. Has he even had a single legitimate chance on a major Sunday to win since 2013? I can't think of one.

He was tied with Koepka with like 5 holes to go at the 2018 PGA.

The last group tees off at 2:15. One group took 71 minutes for 3 holes. The regulation 18 holes may not end until Monday.

Scotty (Adam) is nuking the ball off the tee. Approaching 190 ball speed, carrying the ball past these youngins'.

Such a shame about his iron game and not being able to pay them off.
