So what is the Ducks forward group going to look like next year?

Z - Leo - Top 6 UFA
Vatrano - Strome - Terry
Cutter - McTavish - Colangelo
Bottom 6 UFA - Lundy - Killorn

Out: Fabbri, Johnston, Leason, Harkins

I have no issues keeping Killorn for a PK and Bottom 6 role.
I was thinking something similar to this earlier except moving Killer back to his natural Left wing.

The Ducks should be all over Dallas this offseason.

Getting Marchment for free would be awesome.
Sequin is also a great option. His contract was front loaded and gets a 6 mil bonus on July 1st. If they trade for him after he only makes 7.8 mil in cash over the next 2 seasons. They could take him for free retained or even get an asset with him if they take his full cap hit.
There is some speculation that Seguin will LTIRetire after this postseason. Definitely not a guarantee, but he’s had a rough injury history, so it’s not out of the question. If that does happen, they will be in fine shape.

If islanders are rebuilding or retooling , we should grab jg pageau, hell put him on Leo and z wing… get those guys the puck as much as possible.

Or 3/4 c

I see no reason to buy out Killorn this year. He is still an effective player, he is just playing WAY higher then he should be. Put him on the 4th line and he would be great. Obviously overpaid, but still effective.

There is a chance they buy him out after next season when the budget might be getting tight depending on the RFA contracts.

Please don't bring Lundy back.

I agree re Killorn. He's overpaid - which was the only way he was coming to the ducks. Put him down in the lineup and he's a useful player. He's certainly much better than any of the guys currently on the fourth line.

For whatever they are as players, Killorn and Gudas (and Strome) were brought in to babysit the plethora of 20 year-olds on the roster. From that POV, their leadership and mentorship is invaluable and is one of the missing ingredients in organizations like Buffalo, Chicago, and SJ. IMO.

I hope you’re right, but don’t share your confidence.

Team has improved points wise, Leo, Mac, and Cutter starting to produce even with limited ice time. I think Cronin is back next year. I feel he is holding back our kids, and what they are doing as of late is because they have the skill set to make things happen even when not put in the most ideal situation to make them succeed. This is what irks me the most with Cronin.

It’s crazy but I really think that every remaining game this season is going to hold a lot of weight to Verbeek’s off season plans, including Cronin’s fate, imo.

18 games left. Let’s see what happens.

I really want to finish this season trying to set up for the future with the following lineup:

Z-Leo-Terry
Vatrano-Strome-Killorn
Cutter-Mac-Colangelo
Nesterenko-Lundy-Harkins

FO's

Although a relatively small sample of 192 FO attempts, Harkins has the best FO% on the team with 54.7%. I'd like to keep Harkins as a 4C sparkplug and utilized more on the PK.

Strome lacks a stroke in his area. If his FO's aren't great like Z, then why not put Z back at center? Strome is better off as a scoring RW who lacks defensive play. Hmmmm....

I want that so much. I feel if Leo played with Terry most of the season he’d be on
Pace for 50+ points. Even when he was struggling in the beginning of the season he still made good plays , and Terry could finish.

The Killorn experiment needs to end. But Cronin is not going to do anything. Last game was more proof why that line is not working .

Killorn as a 4th line player who can occasionally score and has good vet leadership would be valuable to this team
Much like the use of silf or Fowler they are once again overusing a vet simply because he's old. He shouldn't be on the pp on a team that has multiple young talent that could one day be legit top 6 players.

A Vatrano/Strome/Killorn line would struggle carrying the puck through the neutral zone and gaining controlled entries - at least that is what I would envision happening when Terry is removed from Vatrano & Strome. It would be cool to see what offensive potential there is with a line of Z/Leo/Terry and it could provide some foresight when looking towards next season, and the possibility of adding FAs. However, line swaps would likely not help right now when the Ducks are still looking to get some wins in the hopes of getting to the playoffs. Perhaps down the road this season if the playoffs are out of reach, then there might be some experimentation to see what could work next season.

Killorn was brought in to be a critical mentor to teach the young guys better habits.

The 4th year of that contract will be bad and he was never going to be worth the money from day one.

Is what it is
