I wonder if we would take a shot at Brock Nelson. We tried to give stamkos and marchesault contracts, couple older players ( I think the key being that it would be another killorn type contract where the years at manageable ) he has size and is a clear upgrade and locker room leader. He’s not the Ratenan level get. But the price will be much cheaper to get him.
Damn, so it's not like fantasy hockey where if the team makes a selection, they go down to the bottom of the waivers list? It's purely standings? So, Blackhawks/Sharks get first dibs for every waiver? Damn, that's gonna be make it less likely for us to pick up a decent waiver.
Verbeek has a right to be upset about the Chicago game but the team played well enough last night and just didn't get the breaks.

That was my initial reaction as well. But not completely sure. Rats definitely is a picky dude. You would think a very money only hungry dude would welcome la and that type of life style. Maybe he just hates the kings like the rest of us. I have this feeling that verbeek may try and add someone like Brock Nelson instead of a big home run swing via rats

Maybe he just doesn't want to be associated with a lame ass franchise like LA or on a team full of dbag players like the Kings? He probably just doesn't want to play in front of the self-entitled, arrogant fans at Staples Center (it'll always be Staples).
In other words, he hates LA and loves OC. I still don't want to give up what is necessary in assets or pay to get him though.

We would have 3-4 elite seasons from him most likely. And then each year, he would decline some. I don’t know. I mean, these types of players don’t become available that often, and to boot at the same time where the rebuild window is closing and the next chapter is beginning. Verbeek may see this as his chance to really put a stamp on his team. At the very least it’s clear that if we us ratenen this season. We would definitely be in a playoff spot. Verbeek may see making the playoffs next season as his ticket to breathe easier as our Gm.

I just don’t get it. I like enforcers. But I want one who either legit enforces, or one who goes out and at least hits everything that moves legally. Johnston is good for doing one of the two every 10-20 games, when he has the ability to do both. Frustrating.

But does he hit things? I’d take the physical wear on the other team;s defensemen over what Johnston brings too much of the time.
