Speculation: 2025 Trade/Free Agency Thread (TDL is March 7th)

A top 6 forward at the deadline is probably too much to ask for. Add a 4th line C that can win faceoffs and play responsible defense. If possible, add another 4th liner that brings physicality (and can play solid defensively). Lundy is fine for now as a 4th line forward. Gaucher can probably start off at wing on the 4th line next year.

The players know this is a business so I don't think it affects them much if at all. And I'll say it again...Verbeek is in the driver's seat to get an overpayment for Dumoulin so I hope he doesn't settle for less. Prove Friedman's critique wrong!
Sure it affects them. They understand it's business but they aren't robots. They have families and houses and favorite restaurants and their kids go to school and all of that. They might intellectually get it, but that doesn't mean it's easy.

Maybe not a true "top 6" scorer but a complimentary guy like Pageau. Could play RW in the top six and help with faceoff duties, Shouldn't cost that much to acquire and signed through next year

Pageau isn’t the sexy pickup but he would undoubtedly make this team better for a potential push to the playoffs

Over on the Edmonton board they are saying that the word from their local writers/insiders is that the Oilers are looking at Soucy or Dumoulin.

Cant help but wonder if this Canucks game tonight changes our TDL approach.
I would hope not. The strategy shouldn't change based on one game.

Still think they should add talent on term where they can. The guys we have to sell won't net much at all, so I don't have too much of an itch to subtract talent.

Selling dumo and adding a forward would be fine, I just think straight selling will be a bad message to send to the room.

I don't know, there has to be an inflection point somewhere. And we're just talking about change, not necessarily drastic change. If Verbeek has an offer out there for Dumuolin and it's a 3rd or a low 2nd or something, but the Ducks find themselves 4 points out of a playoff spot after tonight, maybe that changes his mind on dealing him. I'm ok with that. 2nd/3rd round picks don't excite me at this point.

Either way, if the Ducks do something major in the next three days, it's long-term. That probably won't happen since this isn't really the time for it. So at most, they're going to be tinkering around the edge of the roster - Dumuolin and Fabbri are really their only expiring assets of any value, then you've got 4th line guys who are easily replaceable.

As much as I have doubts as to just how good a GM Verbeek is or will be, I'm quite confident he will not be moving Z anytime soon. If anything, this is where his stubbornness in setting a price and not budging will keep the vultures away.
I agree. He’s far from some action junkie. The cutter G yrade took months to finalize. Action junkie gms get emotional and impatient

I expect it to be a quieter deadline for us than usual. This has been a really good end to our hopefully final rebuilding year and I expect PV to really buckle down this offseason to add.

NHL network first shift about to have some duck content after the commercial break “
I would rather be the ducks than the Sabres Boston or Buffalo right now, they will be exciting in 365 days “ the guest mentioned all our young guys(most haven’t heard of j lacombe and he’s great, they have lunuea coming up and zellwegger ready to make a jump)…hradek asked “ is Zegras part of the future in Anaheim” a very fast and hard no “ verbeek knows what it takes to win a cup , he wants a heavy hard style to win. They are set at center, and Zegras is a center being played in the wing I don’t see him as a #1 center but he will do well to be moved. It’s told he wants to move back east anyways. “ -Steve kouleas no clue who this is
