I’m ok with doing nothing. Moves that improve you for the long term arent done on deadline day unless you sell. I didn’t want to be a seller but happy not being a buyer too. If we do nothing in the off-season I’ll be cranky but other then that standing pat today doesn’t bother me.

Verbeek interview notes:

-Really liked Dumoulin, difficult decision to trade him
-Did not like having Zell/Minty sit, so he felt like he had to trade Dumoulin
-Important for young players to play meaningful games
-Told team this morning he believes in them and they have the ability to get into the playoffs
-Similarities with a team Verbeek played on where they went 9-0-1 in final 10 games to make playoffs
-Has seen Traff play, says he’s big with a physical edge, likes hockey sense and has some skill
-Spoke on the phone with Traff and will watch him play a relegation series soon
-Made it clear that Kylington is pretty much just there in case of an injury
-Mintyukov: Up and down season, still recovering from knee surgery late in summer and it has hurt his play and confidence, wants him to be an all-situations dman
-Zellweger: Still working on defensive game, praised his skating ability and breakouts
-Took calls, but a lot of information gathering and he said “No” a lot
-Fabbri: Unsure how long he will be out, will review with staff on him
-Gibson: There was an active market for Gibson, but offers didn’t make sense for the team
-Suchanek confirmed ACL injury, Clang has an MCL injury
-Needed Husso for depth to give San Diego a chance
-Luneau: Impressive production (recalled Subban’s rookie AHL season), will leave him in SD this year to round out game
-Helleson: Didn’t see much confidence in his game when he first turned pro, “underrated skill and a smart player,” was impressed with his focus and work ethic when he got sent down this season, likes his game more in the NHL than AHL, says he’s good friends with LaCombe

What did I say, Helleson is Lacombe’s Butthead, our future top line! Maybe that means Drew is going to make a big jump next year.

Would’ve been nice just to even get a mention of Z lol

Why would Zegras be mentioned? It sounds like he didn't talk about McTavish or Gauthier or Carlsson. If anything, I think it's encouraging that Zegras wasn't mentioned. That means Verbeek doesn't give a single crap about any of the rumors flying around from pundits or "insiders" or talking heads or random internet message board posters. Which is how it should be.

Zegras plays for the Ducks. That's all that matters.

I guess but the others aren’t mentioned every single day for the last 2 years in rumours haha. I see both sides of it. Just frustrated. Happy he’s still here.

I know we're starved for Ducks content, so I understand why people go out and look for stuff. But I think our GM not addressing it is actually a good thing. I'm sure Verbeek has taken calls on all those guys. Probably more on Zegras, but at the end of the day, it's meaningless since nothing happened. Verbeek doesn't care about the rumors and he absolutely shouldn't. It's a waste of his time. Even mentioning them gives those rumors credence and encourages more randos to throw them out there to see if they can get people to bite.

I think Ducks fans should be happy that Zegras' name didn't come up.

Pretty much all of the players mentioned were because of direct questions about them from Hayward or Downie. Zegras just didn’t come up.

You’ve sold me. I needed this therapy session.

the hate some of you have for this guy is so unwarranted.
I don’t hate him, but I surely resent that for so long he was the ducks only real “legit” source. So yea, I resented those times. We had no insider at all. If we didn’t have d Lee. I might’ve truly built some hate for Stephen’s for sure though.

I'd rather him not report anything then try to create something out of nothing. There was literally nothing going on today for Anaheim. Why try to create the illusion there was?

This isn’t a one off situation. If it were, then you are indeed correct. Yes.

I'm probably a lot older than you and I remember the days when hockey coverage was like finding water in the desert. There is so much information available today that relying on Stephens seems like sending a letter instead of an email. These are the good old days for information...trust me!
