Yeah we'll see how he looks but unless he's truly instrumental and we go on a deep run, I don't think we should re-sign.

He's gonna get $3M+ at least and I don't think we should be paying a 5/6D that kind of money.

Unless they decide to move Manson instead.
If Nelson walks and Lindgren is willing to take ~$2.5m x 2 years or thereabouts then it's probably worth considering. It'll be hard to fit him in though if Nelson stays.

I don’t care if Lindgren is the second coming of Adam Foote defensively for us. You don’t prioritize your 5th D over your 2C.

As long as Nelson fits in well, prioritize him above all else.

Punt Colton and Wood to the moon via trade.

If there’s money left, explore bringing back Lindgren.
If the Avs are able to punt Colton and Wood, it opens up a ton of money for next season and that's with Landeskog being in the lineup. If he's not, add 7M to that.

Avs are in a good position.

So what's it going to take to move Miles Wood this off-season?

$2.5m X 4 years, currently sitting at 4 points in 28 games and frequent a healthy scratch. 6 team NTC, which presumably means he can't be traded to Canada.

Call up Barry Trotz, he'll be interested in an old war horse like Wood, maybe we'll get the Parsnip 3rd back :sarcasm:

He can be traded to CBJ, and Anaheim though. They need bodies for their prison camps.

We can pray he scores another overtime goal vs Dallas and send him packing.

Loved that goal.

Power and speed. Heiskanen never stood a chance.

A true donkey galloping in the open fields.

I didn't mean to suggest that signing Lindgren should be a priority over Nelson. I said "IF" Nelson walks (after making every attempt to re-sign him) THEN you can consider if there's any space for Lindgren.

Re-signing Lindgren is obviously a much lower priority than Nelson, and Drouin.

He turned down a 3 year offer from the Isles and he liked it there. We'd probably have to offer him 5 years and pray that he isn't dead set on finishing his career in Minny.

Offering 5 years to a 34 yo is dumb but we have literally no choice.
Why would he leave NYI - to have 1 chance to win a Cup with the Avs and then sign with the wild to keep losing the rest of his career ?

I think this is going to look like the Blackwood deal - in the sense that once it's clear to him what kind of room we have and what kind of organization he'll be signing with, it's going to happen.

I think he signs within 2 weeks - 4 years - $7.5M

2025-26 - 34 years old
2026-27 - 35 years old
2027-28 - 36 years old
2028-29 - 37 years old

It's not that bad.

I'm surprised they could waive him if he was injured, I thought there was a rule against that. I recall having to keep Gilbert and some other AHL plug on the NHL roster a year or two ago for months because they got hurt and couldn't be sent back down until they were cleared to play again.
They assigned him to the AHL, he played one game on Feb 28, and tore his ACL during that game. He has a one-way contract, so there's no hit for him financially

Necas is definitely more noticeable throughout games.

He doesn’t have the gift Moose does to just create goals out of thin air though.

We also need to see what Necas does in the playoffs. It’s been a good trade overall. The Avs seem no worse off and are certainly a much deeper team than they were to start the year.
I completely agree. But you are very far from the first that person keeps pointing this out.

I feel like many are building in a back door looking for a reason to get rid of the guy.
17/18 - 6GP, 0G, 4A, 4PTS, -1
18/19 - 12GP, 6G, 8A, 14PTS, -1
19/20 - 15GP, 7G, 14A, 21PTS, +11
20/21 - 10GP, 5G, 8A, 13PTS, +5
21/22 - 20GP, 5G, 20A, 25PTS, +3
22/23 - 7GP, 7G, 3A, 10PTS, +4
23/24 - 11GP, 4G, 10A, 14PTS, -1

Those are Mikko's stats. Of his 101 postseason points, 38 were on the PP, accounting for *checks math, mumbles something crossing a line and moving a dot* f*** it... it's like 38% give or take.

But I do not believe that looking purely at production is the way to look at it? He wasn't brought in to be Mikko Rantanen. He was brought in to be Martin Necas.

34% of Macks playoff points are on the PP.

Necas moves his feet and makes the offense much more dynamically active.
