Yeah, I don't really know what to think about the Mikko situation anymore. At this point, it seems like

- he's very, very greedy and possibly overthinking his value.
OR
- or he's very set on a certain location, and that hasn't been offered to him yet (please come back lol)
OR
- his agent is very rogue and greedy, which means that Mikko is f***ing stupid and needs to take control of this situation, and stop pretending he doesn't know where things stand. Make a f***ing decision.

I'm kinda leaning on option #2 at this point.

I am actually starting to wonder if he forces his way back to the Avs. Everyone is saying he f***ed up because he's greedy. No better way to prove otherwise.

Gotta think Ivan Ivan can hold some considerable value. Player that has shown he will probably be able to carve out a decent NHL career probably holds more value that a late 2nd/early third

Could also see OO swapped for a player in a similar position, ie prospect that lost favour with the team, with the hope the the player can turn it around with the Avs and either contribute next season or be used as another asset at next deadline

OR he never planned on leaving Colorado, was shocked they traded him and is taking his time trying to figure out the next 8 years of his life.

Meanwhile teams are pressuring and rushing him to make one of the most important decisions of his life to their benefit.
Would mean option two from what I laid out

Extending Kovacevic means they have Hamilton, Peace, Kovacevic on the right long-term, effectively killing Nemec's chances of making that team. I wonder if that makes Nemec available now.

If they really want Mitts..

But.. Does Nemec actually help now even on the bottom pair?

Taking a look at the numbers for 25-26 if we simply re-sign our guys and don't make any moves:
* means speculative

Drouin 5M* - MacKinnon 12.6M - Necas 6.5M
Lehkonen 4.5M - Nelson 7M* - Nichushkin 6.125M
Landeskog 7M - Mittelstadt 5.75M - Colton 4M
Wood 2.5M - Drury 1.725M - LOC 2.5M
Kelly 0.825M
Kiviranta, Vesey not extended

Toews 7.25M - Makar 9M
Girard 5M - Manson 4.5M
Lindgren 2M* - Malinski 2M*
Middleton 0.775M

Blackwood 5.25M
Wedgewood 1.5M

Total: 103.3M
Salary cap: 95.5M

7.8M over the cap.
Fixing without moves:
LTIR Landeskog and sign Kiviranta for 0.775M (6.225M reduction)
Let Malinski walk and sign someone for 0.775M (1.225M reduction)
Still over the cap, but only by 0.3M

Next year contracts end for:
UFA's Necas, Kelly, Manson, Wedgewood
RFA's Drury
