Well technically, that's Rimpinen. This is his 2nd pro year and he's been better in this tournament. And only reason why Finland is here, USA would have reach final with any goalie they have. Augustine is better prospect, no doubt about that.
This is Augustine's third WJC, and his second gold medal game. He's got more experience in this situation. And he's been the better goalie in their last 2 games, allowing only 2 combined goals vs Canada and Czechia. Rimpinen has allowed 6 in his last 2 games vs Sweden and Slovakia.

Burnevik's job on the PP is more than a bumper - it is to get to the crease, create net-front space for the skilled US forwards to get to rebounds and to screen the goalie. There are plenty of more skilled USA guys out there to do the rest. He's also a Saint Cloud player and his college coach, Brett Larson, runs the USA PP.
Some coaches are really rigid in the type of power play prototype players they want to have in each role. Seems like Larson is really set on a bumper who’s a big bodied guy to create space. BC had Leonard in that spot last year and it worked well. The issue with moving Leonard there is you lose one of the only right shot guys on the umbrella. I wouldn’t be a big fan of that move. I also don’t like the move of adding Eiserman, moving Hagens down low and Perrault to the bumper.

The 2nd PP has been pretty good, no reason to mess with it. They should’ve tried someone at the bumper spot earlier in the tourney no matter what size they are. When Finland played them last they all but ignored Burnevik, played more aggressive on the perimeter and didn’t give the PP1 much time to set up. If they do the same and the rest of the PP has lost faith in giving him chances likes it seems like they have, the PP1 will probably struggle again today unless they can make something happen off transition or the rush

A game is a game, when the puck drops. And even after those 2 games, Rimpinen is still best goalie in this tournament, by the numbers.

I’m not questioning the value or role of the bumper. I’m questioning whether or not Burnevik is capable of competing in these games right now. He seems overmatched in many ways. And I’m guessing his head is a mess right now. Put Nelson at bumper on pp1…or Terrance….or Svoboda….or whatever.

Ya I don’t disagree but I do wonder if the coaching staff thinks it’s too late to try someone else. I’d even throw Stiga into the names you suggested, he can be an absolute rat. I just wouldn’t change the 2nd PP to help out the first. The 2nd unit has been better than the 1st imo

That’s correct. I agree.

Not going to happen, but I think Hagens is a bit redundant on the top line with Perreault. I’d like to see him and Nelson swapped

Or put Moore w/ Leonard & Perreault and let Nelson & Hagens create a 2nd scoring line

Rimpinen is not the only or even the main reason Finland has made the Gold medal game. Unequivocally false. Finland plays a great Team game, which you know nothing about. Also you know nothing about the other two US goalies compared to Augustine with that comment.

They've been playing together for months, they had a really good game against Czech, they're not changing that line now

No, we wouldn’t have. We would’ve gotten third in the group if Augustine wasn’t the best player on the ice in the Canada game. And he was the best player on the ice in the SF against Czechia. They outplayed us outside of goaltending and shooting talent.

Yeah I know, that’s why I said “not going to happen” at the start. Still think it would add some balance to the lineup

Lack of composure on the puck in their end was a problem last game and already looking like a problem this game. And they're just flat out getting out worked.
