I too like the third line. Stiga and Ziemer were 2/3 of their U18 NTDP line (with Hagens centering them), so there is some proof of concept putting those two together as wingers, and Oliver Moore is more than capable of centering them.

For those of you that would know better, I was surprised Quinn Finley was left off the roster, was it role or just better players? He seems to be having an excellent season and made the squad last year.

Finley is 20, and the WJC is a U20 tournament.

I was at the game. Forwards look very strong. Slukynsky played very well. Defence may be a slight problem. They played well except for Colin Ralph had a bad game. Got turned around a few times, could not stick handle at all. Your other tall dman Kleber also had trouble handling the puck. Small problem which might fix itself. Remember first time I have ever seen these guys so just might have been a bad game. Leonard was probably your best player followed by Perreault. Hopefully see you in the finals.

Two questionable selections struggling to move the puck against Slovakia is not very promising.

They have a few more games to get comfortable and for Carle to get them going. If not, they can always put Hutson with Minnetian and just lean super heavily on the top 4 for the medal rounds. They could also make "promote" Hensler and that could help.

This was always going to be a top-heavy team. Obviously, I didn't watch the camp, but I don't see someone like Emery (or anyone else they could invite) fixing the problem this year.

Fiddler much better with the puck than anyone of those three (Kleber, Ralph & Emery) and has the similar size too.

In a long season absolutely. In this tournament not really. Situations are fluid and need a quick response. You can't wait and hope they can improve. Of course your team has enough firepower that maybe they could wait

The tournament hasn't even started. Let's not overreact to the first exhibition game for a team getting used to new teammates, new coaches, and new systems. There are going to be rough patches. It's quite possible Ralph or Kleber or insert another player struggle in the tournament, but the first exhibition isn't a great precursor for that, either.

Struggling? 2nd pre-tourney game is tonight.

I must have someone on Ignore. Someone who probably belongs there.

Some folks already going in on Ralph and Kleber as "struggling" based on one poster who was at the exhibition.
