Dickinson had to play both USports games and then was scratched in the first game, so reading between the lines it seems that they aren't all that high on him. To be fair he hasn't been notable when he has played since the camp began.

That is probably a fair assessment of the forwards too.
I don't think it's that they aren't high on him as a player, but rather that he's the only 18 year old on the team. Canada loves Schaefer, understandably so, he wins for them at every level. Ergo, Dickinson is the odd man out. Typical Canada stuff.

I think he's been one of the better defensemen today in his limited ice time.

This team does not have enough depth scoring. The Luchanko and Beaudoin lines create nothing, not like it hasn’t been foreseen
Yup, they built a top 6 and a bottom 6 (again). They're not getting much puck luck this game but that's the risk you run when half the team is basically there to eat minutes and defend.

At the same time this game could easily be a 3-1 Canada. They're working hard they just aren't finishing or generating a tonne.

I'm not talking about him as a player though, just what the plans seem to be when it comes to Dickinson. Feels like third pair is what the cards say if things break his way. I'm surprised by it for all the obvious reasons.

Yeah, and unfortunately for Sam TC likes to have extremely low-event players in depth roles, like Price. I just think it's silly.

Bonk ties it after Canada has a long shift in the Swedish end. There have been a few nice periods of sustained pressure.

Ritchie puts Canada ahead on a pretty bad break for Sweden. Good pressure for Canada this period, probably the highlight to take from this game.

Nice shot by Cowan to basically end things. Impressed by how Canada sustained pressure that period. Definitely plenty of kinks to shake out though.

Good game for both teams. Better for Canada. Our youngest players are definitely the most dynamic. McKenna and Schaefer are both fun to watch.

Not much to worry about yet. There’s still the feeling that there might not be enough finishing ability when it matters most, but that’s just based on past failures and who they left off. This current team has played very well

I like Schaefer a lot but not sure if he’s the best choice for PP1

I thought that McKenna and Catton were the best forwards, but Ritchie and Cowan were good too. Nadeau is ok but I don't think he needs to be stapled to the top line. Molendyk wasn't as good in this game as he was in the first. Schaefer had some high highs but also some definite lows. I'd like to see Yager more involved. I'm glad that Canada's goaltending looks pretty good.

I wish Rehkopf used his size more. There's chances for him to just take it hard to the net and he'd likely have a good chance to score but he just passes up on it and hopes for someone to get open.

It seemed like Schaefer was on the ice every 2nd shift. I know that wasn’t the case, but he logged a ton of ice time. Cameron will ride him and Molendyk as his top D I think, then Gibson and Bonk. Will be interesting to see if Mynio draws back in on Boxing Day or Cameron rolls with Dickinson. Knowing Cameron, he’ll go with the safer option in Mynio.

Assuming Pinelli was a placeholder of sorts for Martone and will be the 14th F going forward, the top 6 seems set. I’d like to see more out of Nadeau, but you can’t argue with the production out of the Ritchie line. The Catton-McKenna due looks strong. Gauthier had a better game, but I thought Beaudoin was less effective than he was against the Swiss. Howe was good. Not a fan of Luchanko or Cataford, after the exhibition games they appear to be the weak links up front. Some bad turnovers in the d-zone and completely ineffective offensively. Rehkopf seems to be in a tough spot as the 13th F without a clear role on any of the lines at this point…

It took a while for Canada to gel but once they did in the 3rd, they were great. The first 2 periods were ugly - lots of shots, just as many turnovers.

Sweden certainly looked bigger than Canada.
