At this point, I wouldn't be all that surprised if they do end up trading Clarke instead of Spence.

It seems the coaching staff really likes Spence and when you think about it - it kinda makes sense why this organization would end up choosing Spence over Clarke (despite how insane that concept might be to many of us).

Spence is solid defensively, generally responsible in his own end. Yet he's also a decent puck mover and can provide some offense. Not too flashy/risky, but still able to contribute. Yep, I'd say that fits this Kings organization.

Clarke on the other hand can be a very high risk, high reward player with the creativity he brings. That same creativity is why he has a much higher ceiling (And why trading him would probably be a HUGE mistake). But it's also generally not a fit for this Kings organization and we've seen that time and time again. Clarke also has much more value on the trade market.

It's very clear right now that one player is a good organizational fit while the other might not be.

FWIW, I still think they should keep both - Even if it means they aren't able to add a big name at the TDL.

What would you guys be willing to give up for Jordan Kyrou?? (if he's available of course)

That might be my dream deadline add at the moment. I imagine the Blues would be asking for Clarke or Byfield but maybe there's a way to pull it off without including either?

A 1st round pick, Moore, and Spence feels like it probably wouldn't be enough? Adding Greentree to that package feels like it would be too much though. But honestly, I'd maybe be okay with including Greentree if it meant adding a player like Kyrou. Greentree might end up being a sick player but Kyrou is a sure-fire star forward in his prime who already has multiple 30 goal, 70 point seasons.

If the Blues needed a center back, would it be crazy to send Danault the other way instead of Moore? Kyrou can play center so maybe losing Danault wouldn't hurt too bad?

Would LOVE if they could somehow find a way to pull it off.

Fiala - Byfield - Kempe
Laferriere - Kopitar - Kyrou
Turcotte - Danault - Foegele
Jeannot - Thomas - Lewis

OR

Fiala - Byfield - Kempe
Foegele - Kyrou - Laferriere
Moore - Kopitar - Turcotte
Jeannot - Thomas - Lewis

Kyrou's $8.125m cap hit might be tough to fit this season but with the cap going up it'll start to look like nothing in a few years. Kyrou's ability to play center would give you some interesting options too - The Kings could use him at 1C at times if Byfield still needs more time. His play-driving ability may be great to pair with Kopitar and he would be able to slot onto PP1.

Also really like the idea of a Fiala - Byfield - Kyrou line.

Spence is just flat out the better player, if you need to choose between the two. Luckily we don't.

Clarke is an outstanding talent who needs to make some adjustments to become a dependable player, something virtually every young non-phenom defenseman has to experience.

Not sure why there is so much panic around him here. He has plenty of time to work out the kinks. But not acknowledging those kinks wouldn't be doing him any favors.

Hi Kings fan,

As I imagine with Kopitar on the cusp of retirement, the team will be led by Byfield at C.

With all this Clarke talk, would you consider a swap with Dach to get a young C?

Maybe a bigger trade? I believe mobile LHD is a need for you.

I think the Kings would be looking at more of an impact player in return if they were to move Clarke. Dach is not it.

Agreed, not sure Danault waives to back to Montreal either., Maybe Clarke for Dach and Struble or Xhekaj + pick
Montreal fans will go crazy saying overpay, but Clarke in Montreal would be More impactful the Hutson and absolute beast there

Kings get older, more expensive, AND arguably worse? Oh you tease. Throw in the Kings 1st and it seems like a deal Blake would make.
We had Luke Schenn and he didn't work out and he was like 5 years younger, yes sounds like the Kings.

Jordan Spence + Akil Thomas for Ryan O'Reilly and Luke Schenn :baghead:
We need scoring right handed winger and could of had Ryan for cash in offseason, so either they didn't want or he didn't want to come here

King's only 6 points out of first in the division with games in hand. Blake goes big here, Vegas & Oilers could play in the first round!!!

Do it Blake!

Best I can do is Clarke for Palmieri and Perunovich

no interest from me. Dach has such health issues and center is not a need (even with Danault going out). I like Matheson but not at the price of Clarke.
