2025 Summer Transfer Rumors and Discussion Closed Window

Delap's closer to this year's Broja than he is to anything resembling Cunha. I wouldn't trade Cunha for 2 Delaps.
I think this is fair to think as well, but if I’m just looking at macro team-building/squad management, I’d rather have Delap’s profile (especially in PL) than Cunha. I don’t think either is at the top of my list though.

Also I think Delap could still level up. I think Man City might have a lowkey lousy talent eval with letting guys like Palmer/Rogers/etc leave, so I think the foundation there is probably good. Cunha probably has a higher ceiling, but again he’s older and he has some downsides. Delap is just going to be one of those PL for ten years with double digit goal types

Just hold it right there. Salt detected if I may say so
What would the salt be? To be fair, it's a little hard to compare the two, given that they play substantially different roles, but Delap had three fewer goals on a team that overall scored 18 fewer. Delap is also four years younger in his first year in the Premier League.

We’ll see about Cunha. I don’t think he’s some side transforming elite talent. But I do think he adds decent attacking ability in finishing and playmaking.

In the end this summer is about adding players to just make the team competent again. From a talent level I think he absolutely fits that mold. We’ll see how his personality affects that though.

Curious to see how City and United’s respective transfers compare from here on in. Obviously different capabilities at the moment, but with former Sporting manager Amorim at United and now former Sporting Director of Football Viana at City it might be interesting. Amorim’s stint with Sporting largely coincided with Viana in that DoF role and they had plenty of successful signings.

MLS next? I can’t see a decent team in a top European league taking him and I can’t fathom him deciding to play for a team like Espanyol or Fulham or whatever. Also can’t really see those teams paying him.

f*** that. He can f*** off to Madrid or somewhere else. Unless of course they’re going to get him in a Vegas courtroom.

City after Cherki

Now that would be interesting considering the chatter on this forum. Wirtz to Liverpool for however much and Cherki to City for 1/6 less or so.

Dortmund in advanced negotiations for Gimenez.
:(

That league is the worst league a young defender can go to.

Barca all in on Garcia and seemingly pushing MAtS out. Tek is staying he’s renewed

Again, it’s like I said, Ter Stegen with plenty of seasons left on his lucrative contract. Can’t see him being pushed out at all. Assuming they can even convince Garcia, loaning him out sounds more likely.

Some Barca news:
  • Yamal has renewed until 2031. Massive wages for the kid which I think are too much too soon, but if nothing changes he’ll be worth it.
  • Casado rumored to be getting a new deal soon.
  • Fati to Monaco rumored to be agreed. A loan with a 20 million option to purchase.
  • Oriol Romeu set to return to Barcelona as his loan with Girona is up.

Remember when Man City signed Haaland and LFC signed Darwin?

That’s what the Wirtz vs Cherki ‘discourse’ is giving. Obviously not a perfect comparison but it’s close enough

And I rate Cherki, and would still sign him if I could; but if you can get Wirtz, you get Wirtz.

I have seen a french youtube channel talking about Cherki and breaking down his career and interviews and I instantly stopped wanting him. Yes he is very cheap but he might not be a guy you need on your squad, he is quite special let's just keep that way. He has immense talent but he seems to have quite an ego and his track record of him performing at his full talent is small (one season) all other seasons have been huge dissapointment and many of OL supporter wanted him out a year ago and he had many clashes with previous OL manager. I mean he is perfectly two-footed and one of the best dribbler in world football but he is very lazy and he is very inconsistent as for his interview he seemed more concerned about entertaining than commited to help the team. He is quite a character, maybe a bit old school in the way Riquelme played a free spirit type. I am not sure he would fit well with Guardiola who is known to be very strict and have had many clashes with his players in the past. People might say 22M or whatever he will cost is worth it but he might unsettle the team he join like Sancho did with Man United by not showing proper level of commitment.

Wirtz is very expensive but you know what you are getting in term of talent, consistency and leadership at least. Biggest concerns about Wirtz is his injury record and diminutive size.

Good point about Wirtz. He also goes into duels for the ball thinking he's Arturito Vidal without having the frame for it.

I think you're overreacting a bit about Cherki, he's still young and this is definitely not his first good season.

Haha Cherki is so inconsistent that he produces every f***ing single game.
All it took for him to perform is having half decent coaches that gave him the playing time he deserved.
OL fans have always loved him and he showed nothing but love and character in overcoming stupid coaches and management to break through on his childhood team.
Many would have transfered out of frustration to blow out elsewhere. He rejected all moves to prove his worth to Lyon.

Gamacho's United career is over. Not a United fan but Amorim calling him out in front of the rest of the team for his attitude. with him allegedly leaking stuff to the press and his brother social media posts, good riddance.

Haris Seferovic let go by his UAE team, and at 33 and sucking in that league too this year it's probably curtains for him.

Kayode's loan from Fiorentina to Brentford made permanent for 17.5 mil. Makes sense.

Zubimendi all but confirmed to Arsenal. Glad he's not playing for Madrid. 60M€ clause. Wonder who they will use in his position. Urko has been very good with Espanyol, maybe they sign somebody else

Considering we were alleged to have an agreement in place with him months ago, would be a kick in the nuts to have Real nip him now.. Would love to have the assumed out of the way so we can move on to the more important work that needs to be done

But it was Liverpool fans telling us Nunez was on par with Haaland.

Anyway it seems to me like city made a cost effective transfer Ala lfc. While liverpool made a big transfer Ala city.

Correct, which is why I am uniquely qualified to recognize this.

Right and I mean let’s put it another ways if ANY team on the planet would have been the one to ‘Moneyball’ this; it would have been LFC going for Cherki. Especially under this front office with Edwards back in charge. That’s their bread and butter. And yet, they still are going for Wirtz. That alone should tell you everything that you need to know about what LFC think about Wirtz.
