2025 Summer Transfer Rumors and Discussion Closed Window

Frimpong was done too?

How much is the rumoured price? I don't see any risk with him. Might be rich deal but he's top class
Frimpong was release clause I think around 30-40 so lets call it 35.

You know after LFC fan base was (rightfully) mocked for Agent Trent closing the Jude Bellingham to LFC transfered; we get to exorcise some demons by Agent Frimpong helping Wirtz

The thing that makes me nervous is that we have immense success signing our second or third targets. Like if we signed Bellingham we wouldn’t have signed Mac or Szobozslai. These second targets often wind up being better than the first target. We haven’t signed a first target since van Dijk, Fabinho, and Alisson.

Van Dijk and Alisson?
Wirtz just turned 22. Virgil was 26 when he joined LFC. Alisson was 25. So Wirtz like Torres (23 when he joined) were entering their primes. Virgil and Alisson firmly in their primes. Also kind of tough to compare attacking players to defensive players. Not completely unfair comparison though

Good thing the first targets worked out really well too! I think the lesson is just to let Michael Edwards cook

I gotcha. Wasn't sure exactly how you meant it.

Just enjoy it. Soak it in.

Those players succeeded in part because of the infrastructure and culture that has been built. I'm a big Bellingham fan but Wirtz is on another level in terms of the creativity that will help unlock other parts of the squad.

This is gonna be one hell of a memorial day weekend.

I agree. He's been a personal favorite of mine for awhile now (As is Jude tbf). I don't feel the need to compare though and it obviously looks like a homer take with the situation right now.

They desperately wanted him anywhere other than Bayern. I bet it gets done well below the 150m that keeps getting thrown around.
I think I read that the last time Leverkusen sold to Bayern was Michael Ballack and Ze Roberto (same window). That was the year 2002 which was before Wirtz was born

Right , but Amorim’s system is so specialized, he could be spending 8, 9 figures on players that will be useless to the next guy. And if United miss Europe again that is going to be a disaster for them on and off the pitch. There is going to be an enormous leap of faith here. I don’t think it’s hyperbole that if United botch this they could do a Leeds.

I wasn’t referring to your prior post simply based on Amorim continuing as my post clearly demonstrated.

As for the rest of it, is this where I say “Ten four Captain Obvious”? They’re going to spending 8 figures either way and probably 9. As for the players being useless to the next guy, that would depend on the players and the next guy.

Delap apparently now also wanted by Chelsea, Newcastle, and Everton. Kid got relegated and gets to pick where to play. Lucky kid.

He isn't. Jude has more game-breaking talent, but Wirtz is definitely not far behind.

I am a bit more pissed that everyone got their nuts chopped off and LFC just came with one of the easiest signings ever after Haaland went to Man City with no fake bids. F***, City put in fake bids over us for Rice like three times to get his transfer bid higher. Nobody decided to do that with this move, Pejorative Slured clubs.

Already mentioned, Chelsea are the favourites and it sounds like it's pretty close.
